Some idea seemed idealistic but not bad... until these parts started bleeding true colours through.
Policy #4
A RefedBC government will no longer accept the right claimed by the Queen (the Crown), either through the Lieutenant Governor or through the Supreme Court of Canada, to disallow provincial legislation that has been approved by a majority of BC voters in a referendum.
Policy #7
Subject to provincial referendum, a RefedBC government will declare the official language of the government of BC to be English.
Policy # 9
A RefedBC government will refuse to accept Ottawa's current method of settling this issue at BC's expense. A RefedBC government will propose a settlement with BC's aboriginals subject to a double referendum (ie approval by aboriginals and non-aboriginals), consisting of an offer to each individual aboriginal of a home and a generous cash payment, thereby becoming an equal member of BC society. The federal government will be required to reimburse BC for the cost of the properties concerned and to provide the monetary payment, in fulfillment of the federal obligations under the Terms of Union, 1871.
(while in theory this may seem fine, you are in essence to ask people who never agreed to be part of BC to obey the wishes of BC, Im iffy on this one..but it seems to be a trend...)
Policy #17
A RefedBC government will require that federal positions classified as bilingual be limited to the ratio of Quebec Francophone citizens to Canadian Anglophone citizens - that is, approximately 20%.
Policy #18
A RefedBC government will propose that the provinces, in annual session, will combine to inform the federal government of the maximum number of immigrants that the federal government may allow into the country, and the skill types required (the provinces will require input into the distribution of immigrant destinations). Also that refugee claimants shall be subject to control while awaiting an immigration decision. Also that illegal entrants shall be deported immediately, and will not be afforded rights under the Charter of rights and Freedoms, as is now the case.
So, You think Natives should do as the Immigrant population says and adopt the new Immigrant culture, but that newer immigrants can find somewhere else to go and not try and change the culture currently in place, nor be able to enter the country in the same way the current population did.
Policy # 22
A RefedBC government will encourage other provinces to combine in demanding that Ottawa abolish official multiculturalism. Ethnic minorities will be free to retain their culture, but no public money will be used for this purpose.
Public money will be used to promote the culture of the Ethnic Majority thought?
Policy # 23
A RefedBC government will encourage other provinces to demand that no international treaties be signed by Canada without the approval of a majority of provinces - a double majority (provinces and citizens). BC would urge Ottawa to withdraw Canada's ratification of the Kyoto accord, unless it is supported by irrefutable science.
So, basically each province should be a sovereign nation in a loose alliance (despite the fact the eastern provinces paid for the western ones, who had the land given away..seems like a poor Return on Investment for them)
What could possibly go wrong with allowing referendums and getting rid of protection for minority groups while promoting the cultural power of the ethnic majority :\
