Ed Stelmach Premier of Alberta has decided to give to his beloved people more oil revenue by increasing the royalties that oil companies have to pay the province.

This is a move that is probably in the NDP playbook.

If he was a true Conservative he would have lowered the royalties and let business call the shots.

This is his line in the sand to tell Harper that the province controls their own resource revenue in light of what is happening to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.

If Harper tries to strong arm Ed then he loses support from the west because this is what brought down Brian Mulroney when he tampered with the National Energy Board.

Friday will be a volatile place on the stock market where oil stocks will fall in retaliation to this afternoon’s announcement.

Ed Increased the oil royalties to a whopping twenty per cent.

The oil companies equipment will be rolling down highway number two going south of the border leaving the people of Alberta to pick up the pieces just like in the early 1980’s.

With the oil wells capped Ed will finally figure out that 20% of nothing is nothing but then again this is the only way to teach a Conservative anything by letting him or her use enough rope till they are swinging in the wind metaphorically speaking of course.

Even with the twenty percent royalties, the price to the oil companies is still better than Venezuela. Alberta's oil had been pretty much given to the oil companies as a gift.

I think that's why they called Pierre Elliot Trudeau Ripped Off Canadians.

Woof!
I don't think you'll find that Trudeau was very enamoured of the oil companies. You have to blame Ralph Klein for giving away Alberta's oil.
