Hurt People Hurt People - Paul Neil too?

"Hurt People Hurt People" is a saying that means the afflicted, abused, and damaged among us tend to hurt other people.

Maybe it is 'all they know', or some kind of retribution, but violence in our world could be reduced if we had some way to reach out to them before they do hurt someone. Maybe it is how they are trying to communicate what happened to them.

Too late for Christopher Paul Neil, 32, who grew up in Maple Ridge, B.C., the suspected child-sexual predator who posted his acts on the internet along with his photo that was un-scrambled. Maybe he put his 'swirled photo' up because he wanted to get caught.

It strikes me as "very possible" that Paul Neil was himself abused.

He has a history with the Catholic church. He was refused enrty into the seminary, and they pointed him towards a teaching position instead [hiow decent].

The news story didn't make the connection to the possibility that he was abused, but gee, ya don't suppose? - could it be another case of Catholic Priests having their way with alter boys and then some of those boys grow up to be sexual predators and spawn 100s of other predators. And so on.

How does a chain like that get broken? Well, one way would be for the Catholic Church to come forwards with information on all abusive priests who, in turn, might try to help all their victims in some confidential way before they also become child sexual predators.

But they don't.

It is a major problem that the Catholic church has not done all it can to stop the cycle; the Catholic Church has not done much at all really. In many cases, it is not even admitting the problem, and it is covering up and protecting their predatory priests.

In fact, there is still some groups there who believe that "boy-love" by a priest is a beautifull and godly thing - don'tcha just wanna rip their heads off? [Ya, that head]

But we must not give in to our aggressions, it is better to apply "infinate compassion" and understand that they are mostly just one in a long line of victims.

And yes, there is sometimes the case where non-victims make up stories to get money, and those people are just about as guilty as the predators because it adds confusion, and stops the real victims from getting help and the guily parties from being charged. God help their cold souls and tiny hearts too...

The fact that he got involved in the church, and applied to become a priest, doesn't necessarily imply a past abuse. What it DOES go to show, is that predators seek power. Police officers, teachers, coaches, social workers.... they seek positions where they will be in authority. It's part of the compulsion, part of their twisted nature.

He could have just as likely never been abused, or been abused at home, or been abused by a teacher, as having been abused by a Catholic priest.

It's a lesson in the one simple rule all parents should follow.... be wary of ANYone who puts themselves in a position of having power over your kids. This whole 'blame the priests' deal turns a blind eye to the many many many other members of society who are a danger.

It would be interesting to study the motivations of candidates for the priesthood, not because they are the exclusive source of child abuse but because they have a very long history.I have never trusted the benevolence of those in power. When you can poison a child with your own rotten destructive dogma there likely is no limit to the deciet or abuse you will engage.

Here's a novel idea.....he's not really the man they are looking for and is really innocent......

You know....that pesky little right of...innocent untill proven guilty?
