PM Harper announced more money for educating students in the field of commercial research and development today.

While University tuitions continue to rise, there is now new money and lots of it for Canada's students who would sell out to 'the commercial world of new plastic kids toys and the latest music playing formats' rather than learning about pure science that leads to discoveries that produce the real advancements.

Corporate sell outs are going to get an easy ride, while people who would be doing "pure science" and who are actually 'eager to learn' will not be able to enter university unless they have a rich papa. Poor kids often have the smarts too eh.

This is PUBLIC money going to corporate concerns. The corporate world complain that there is not enough trained workers for their commercial production of gadgets and widgets, and they simply do not want to pay for that training, so PM Harper steps in and gives taxpayer dollars to this "Science and Technology Strategy".

ARRRRGGGGGG!!!

What's wrong with boosting Research and Development Karlin? Canada is sorely lacking "made in canada" products. Wouldn't it be nice to have more success stories like ATI, RIM etc?

So a university grad who goes to work for a corporation is a sell out now?

The government should pay for the training for the people that have the grades to qualify.

An education for a student in a university who studies in something this country needs is a good investment.

The government would get their money back by the graduates who get the high paying jobs and start paying taxes.

To go in co-operation with a corporation is a government abandoning their responsibilities.

When corporations are involved that’s when corruption starts and in the end students are worse off.

In England I heard that they used to streamline students according to their grades.

If you had A’s then you went to University and if you had B’s you went to college and if you had C’s then you went into the trades and if you had D’s then you’re out of luck.

This government is treating all students as having D’s and they are telling students that they are all out of luck.

This government would rather import the skilled workers from other countries than train their own and that is a waste.

Yeah, what's wrong with people working for corporations? If we didn't have corporations, we wouldn't have computers, and if we didn't have computers...well, none of us would be posting here right now would we?
