In Ontario today six fallen police officers will have their name added to the wall of fame with the rest of the police who have died in the line of duty.

When I was young I did not like the police that much because they were responsible for sending me to traffic court for speeding violations I never committed.

The police were the ones that told me to move along when I was standing around minding my own business.

I just did not like the police because when I was breaking the law they were always there to send me to court and be with all the other riffraff.

I could never understand why anybody in his or her right minds would even consider being a police officer.

They are ridiculed and hated by people.

The only time you would deal with them is if you were doing something wrong like making that left turn onto main street.

Over the years I saw the police comforting people when they lost love ones, saw them looking for lost kids.

I saw police going after dangerous offenders that would not think twice about killing you.

I saw police dismantle motorcycle clubhouses.

I saw the police make the streets in Ontario safe.

When one police officer dies in the line of duty, we all lose.

The Police Our Protectors.
