As I predicted the bloc has stated that they WILL support the 2007 budget thanks to the fiscal balancing initiative it contains.

Yeah I am watching CTV Newsnet coverage rate now.

Its all so confusing! :'(

I think overall most people are happy.

You cannot please everyone without breaking the bank!

It will go through, the Liberals, NDP, and Bloc do not want an election any time soon.

Yeah, everyone is saying 1000 things, The fact is all parties knew the bloc would support it, that is why they are choosing to say they won't, if the bloc wasn't going to support it you can get one of the other parties would, right now would be the wrong time for an election for every party but the Conservatives. Truthfully next year will probably be just as bad for the other parites. The more time Canadians spend with Mr. Harper the more they seem to realize he isn't as scary as the liberals so masterfully made him seem.

You can't be scary in a minority.

the federal budget is going to play big time in the Quebec election.
The Bloc can't refuse it or else it will hurt the PQ parties chance.
The ADQ is waiting for the budget to release its numbers on they're election promises.
And The liberals well.......

I agree , nice ploy if the budget is refused then they still come out on top as looking like the good guy.

Ironic that this budget looks more like a Liberal budget yet Dion says he can't support it.

I would love to see the Bloc say they won't support the budget and watch Dion flip flop faster than a fish out of water.

A Liberal "style" budget. Not a Liberal budget.

This budget just shows the hypocrasy of the Liberals. They are opposing it just for the sake of opposing it. Flaherty could have taken this budget right out of Goodales book and Dion still would have opposed it.

No worries though. It just shows how despicable the Liberals have become. Have fun looking across the floor at the governing party.

It shows the cons have no vision.

An 8% increase in spending is the highest of any Liberal budget and well below what the cons promised.

Where is the outrage from cons on this budget?

2007 Budget is an insult to Canadian Values

Another take from the poor and get a razor in the apple back to them budget. It rewards those that can afford non necessities of life.

A pair of shoes is a necessity, where skates are a luxury.
Indicatives like tax breaks for those who buy fuel efficient car is not a good incentive. A poor family that can not buy a car, does not get money back for buying a stroller to walk her kid, does not get money for walking to the store.

I like the federal minister tie! It was crooked. The only truth in the budget!

First if you think the Conservatives promised more than 7 or 8% of an increase in a year you are out of your mind, no one expected quite this much spending. Which by the way is more of an increase % than there has been in many years. Plus over two years it will be an additional 7%.

This just goes to show you that while we Cons like to do things in a fiscally responsible way we aren't afrid of spending money where it is needed. So long as that will provide for a better tomorrow , and hopefully more economic groth in the long run.

The fact is, education and health care really needed cash.

I find it funny that the only Mayor who decided he didn't really like the budget was David Millar, every other mayor I have seen interviewed was pretty happy, (including missisauga, Hamilton, Kitchener, Guelph) Plus most Commerce Chambers are pretty happy with the budget, while there aren't tax breaks for small business, the budget addressed a huge emerging shortage in skilled labour.

I am very dissapointed in the Conservatives wrt this budget. I would have expected a reduction in spending not one of the largest increases. Also, the non-existant tax relief is equally appalling. Surpluses should be paid back in the same proportions as they are taken.

A surplus means that the government taxed too much, not spent too little.

I never said they promised that, they promised about a 3% increase in spending and instead out spent the Libs in it's second budget.

For a better tomorrow? Tell me, where is the vision in this budget on anything?

Funny they are happy isn't it considering they all got nothing in this budget, no politics there. Flarhety told Miller to get his fiscal house in order and stop asking for money when the Liberal government before him downloaded costs onto provinces to balance the books and then Flarhety's government downloaded costs onto municipalities to balance there books (which they never did), so who does Miller download costs on to? Miller was hoping for some national strategy on public transit like they have in all other G8 countries and got nothing.....what about your better tomorrow? If we are to compete we better find ways to get our workers around more effeciently.....that's vision.

There are many groups who are not happy with this budget and many are cons like the Premier of NFLD and the CD Howe institute and single rate payers who got jack **** in this budget. If the Libs had come out with a budget like this one and they have in the past you cons would scream bloody murder but when the cons do it it's for a better tomorrow.

Hypocrisy runs thick in politics and cons are no better than anyone else.

A typical vote-buying budget attempt by the Conservatives. Long-term thinking for politicians of any stripe goes only as far as the next election. Billions of dollars in new spending for what? Does this spending fit into a long-term plan? Does it promote the long-term interests of the country? No, it is simply a collection of little bribes targetted at different voters to buy their votes.

There is precious little to celebrate in this budget.

aka. A typical Liberal budget.

It must really suck for liberal supporters to get back what they had been dishing out for 13 years.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

It must suck as a con to get what you have always complained about until now.
