MONTREAL (CP) - The hoopla and excitement is building at the Liberal leadership convention as the eight contenders make their grand entrances.
But the difference is stark among the four contenders with a real shot at winning and the four trailing candidates.
Bob Rae, Gerard Kennedy and Stephane Dion arrived to register today, surrounded by chanting throngs of supporters waving placards and outfitted in distinctive campaign T-shirts.
A similar show of force attended front-runner Michael Ignatieff's arrival on Tuesday.
By contrast, sixth-place contender Joe Volpe arrived quietly, accompanied only by his wife and a couple of aides.
Fifth place contender Ken Dryden wandered through the hall on his own while last-place contender Martha Hall Findlay tried gamely to put on a small show with a tiny band of chanting supporters.
