In times of stress and change, people inadvertantly mourn what they perceive aS "good old days". I suspect that that is what this poll represents.

Also note that I have previously posted several links which show that the vast majority of newly converted Muslims are women and that they do not regard the religion as being suppressive to women. I have indicated that Marmaduke Pickthall taught that Islam is generally obligated to adjust to a society's standards of conduct and morality. Therefore, newly immigrated Muslims should adjust to Canadian standards where and if possible. But this does not mean that Islam suppresses women as some Westerners believe because this is not held to be the standard in Eastern societies.

The stats shown above (if they are genuine) give an indication of certain people's ignorance: if 81 % of the people regard Islam as suppressing women, then why do 49 % (about half) say that religion is positive? Seems like they contradict themselves (again, assuming those numbers have any valid basis since we do not have a link or the questions asked if there was any such survey).

The majority has spoken. In "democracies" such as ours, that means the majority should get what it wants. Regardless if it offends. This is Canada, not some Arab state. The people have spoken, like it or not.
