The Middle Eastern oil production could slow down to a crawl if the terrorists started blowing up oil wells and refineries in an effort to cripple the western transportation machine. It is unfortunate that this war is between people that think the world was made for them only. This type of thinking is used by both sides of the fence. On one hand Bush admits publicly saying "America is addicted to oil and we will defend that right on foreign soil" he said. On the other hand Osama feels that the whole world should wipe their rear end with a rock, because Osama is offended with toilet paper touching his rear end. That is how stupid this world has become. After the Heathrow Air Port bust few days ago we see that it is a matter of time before the next sucker punch will come in from these rats. The infiltration has already reached dangerous unshakable levels. Non Canadian Citizens are working in the Immigration Department and that alone is a huge gash in Canada’s National security. Times have changed for ever. 2009 is only 3 years away.

While Canadian young men and women are loosing their lives for an un-winnable war.
Hundreds of Canadian and NATO soldiers in Afghanistan bid a solemn farewell to one of their own on Friday as the body of Master Cpl. Jeffrey Walsh was sent home..

I doubt that is what that fallen soldier wanted or died for.

Most of these young men and women in Afghanistan have little in the way of history to guide them. They're there because they were asked to go and they believe what their 'superiors' have told them. It's all a sham. Afghanistan is unwinnable and these young Canadians are dying for nothing.

“America is addicted to oil" the only reason why England the US and Canada are involved in the Middle East no other reason, in reality the leaders of all three countries don’t give a rats ass about helping the poor people there, all they are there to do is insure oil out of the Arabian Gulf.
Zoofer the US or Canada has no right to **** with other peoples problems. US and Canada will soon reach levels of bankruptcy for spending their doe on stupid causes like to bring law and order to a lawless world which trying so hard to eradicate the west. Wait until 2009 the Middle East will be come unthinkably worst than what it is now. You can sit there and think we are helping the world by killing our troops while at the end you could get poison while you drink your gaterate drink because the Moslem extreme rats have perpetrated a poison assault of the food you eat. Zoofer imperialism has brought that upon us, and no matter which way you slice the pie we are at a time which is so unpredictable that people will have to choose very carefully other human beings for friends.

How about you back up your assertions? Too hard?

I think you either misheard, misread or forgot exactly what he said in his state of the union address. Unless this was said elsewhere, YOU need to prove it. Not moi.

Like I said, unless he said it elsewhere, he did not state that in his state of the union address.
Quote:
Keeping America competitive requires affordable energy. And here we have a serious problem: America is addicted to oil, which is often imported from unstable parts of the world. The best way to break this addiction is through technology. Since 2001, we have spent nearly $10 billion to develop cleaner, cheaper, and more reliable alternative energy sources -- and we are on the threshold of incredible advances

So, if he said this somewhere else, pls provide the link, I would like to see it. Plese and thank you,

I believe Bush did say America was addicted to oil.

I'm highly doubtful he actually said "we will defend that right on foreign soil."

And Canadian soldiers are doing a terrific job over in Afghanistan. Progress has definitely been made, and that country values Canada's contributions, as does NATO and everyone else who knows what's going on over there. Whatever one's opinion about Iraq, the mission in Afghanistan is NOT Iraq. I hope people aren't confusing the two when wringing their hands and moaning about unwinnability.

Frozen Canuck if you lost your son or daughter for a cause that will never be right, in silence you may doubt any military mission that has the signature of blood, especial BLOOD FOR OIL. The rest if it makes you feel good defending aggression on foreign soil that is your entire prerogative but don’t ask me to send my son to die for a self-serving cause like oil. Capeess?

The Afghanistan or Iraqi war is the same thing, the west is fitting the east, and it is a religious war which will go on for thousands of years to come.
Like it or not the US or Canada doesn’t have the resources to constantly fighting wars of stupidity around the globe. Vietnam made America look stupid at the end of that conflict.

There are families who have lost loved ones in Afghanistan who still believe in the mission being done over there. Do not assume that people with a different viewpoint don't have a personal stake involved.

Your blood for oil rhetoric might may you feel better, but the fact is the Afghani government and people have noticed and appreciated Canada's efforts in helping with the security and rebuilding of that country, and just several months ago expressed concern that Canada might pull out. They did not want Canadian troops to leave. To them, it hardly seems like Canada is bent on imperialistic conquest. Perhaps you know the situation better than they do, though...

And I wouldn't ask your son to do anything. If he is serving, or has served in Afghanistan, or any place else, it is because he enlisted in the military of his own free will, and was sent by his government to carry out a mission deemed important by Canada, many other nations in the world, as well as Afghanistan itself.

Maybe you can remind me again of exactly all these wars around the world Canada is constantly fighting. Like you yourself pointed out, Canada hardly has the resources.

Excellent point frozen canuck.

There is clearly no imperialistic agenda for Canada being in Afghanistan. If the Afghans want us out they need to say so. We would be gone with no fuss.
With the low numbers in our military we should be very focused on being where we are wanted or needed.
