Good points, gc.

If we're going to hold a [resolved] issue against the Liberal Party of Canada forever (besides the fact that nobody implicated in the Sponsorship Program is in the present party's House membership), then let's hold a few against the Conservative Party of Canada. They opposed the creation of our National Flag! The Conservatives don't want us to have our own identity! Off with their heads!

Well, you'll need to talk very fast and very convincingly to tell me the Liberals have cleaned house in Quebec. So many ridings were involved in Sponsorship funding, money taken in kickbacks or chicanery to pay campaign expenses and party workers that you'd have to fire, disassociate, expel, excommunicate - liberally - to expunge the stain of the scandal. A multi-year fraud that had life throughout the Quebec wing. And the boldness of it all and abject effrontery. It's not something that will go away for years to come.

Since the Sponsorship Program has since ceased, money taken unlawfully has been returned, and the party has apologized for the entire issue (not to mention the fact that The Honourable Justice John Gomery, Q.C.¹, exonerated the present party membership of involvement), I would argue that the issue is indeed a moot point.

Revision : (1) Added Queen's Counsel post-nominals for Mr. Justice Gomery.

Conservatives are alcoholics who accept bribes for railway contracts (see john a macdonald)! They also accept bribes for airplane contracts (see mulroney)!

Redding CA (AP) - A dog was saved today and is in good condition. The owner is happy. The dog is eating again and was last seen drinking out of a bowl (the blue one).

Haha..omg Kreskin, you crack me up.

If we are going to point out gomery for the libs, can i take the pleasure of pointing out Airbus for the conservative? Or the more recent scandle that my pal Five Paradox pointed out? Or wait....is it that to some poeple here, the Conservative scandles are somehow less important to remember. .....is there some medical explanation to understand why PC's scandles are fogotton? Conservalzheimers?

Edited to add this : With the new approach to the media, its not like we the tax paying public would know if something was amiss anyways.

I really want to know what Harper is going to do about that John A. scandal.. Or perhaps we could focus on things that matter

Does that mean we're going to put the Sponsorship Program behind us, too, iARTthere4iam? It only seems proper, if we're going to engage in the business of dismissing things that no longer matter.

I am willing to put the sponsoship scandal be hind me. I only ever wanted gomery to do his thing and put the blame where it belonged. The liberal still aren't fit to govern... they need a "time out" to get over the sense that they are the only party that can govern...it isn't healthy for a democracy to be run by one party
besides Harper is capable and we have yet to see what he can do with a majority

Nor do a majority of Canadians, in my view, want to see what he can do with a majority.

Dion is an interesting case...

Will the ROC be willing to accept another leader from Quebec I don't know... You people tell me... please...

He will be DESPISED by hard-core seperatists, that's for sure... believe me...

If he's really smart he could manage to present a vison of Canada into which a NATION of Quebec is perfectly compatible with the idea of a Canadian nation. Ideally, there should be no conflict between both ideas.I believe that for Quebecers, Canada should represent a larger Whole which is largely benefial to be part of... Not only beneficial but somehing to be proud of...

What's the problem with being part of more than one nation? Quebec is a nation, in my opinion. This nation is part of the Canadian nation. The Canadian ideal is huge and still in a creative stage... I belive the best times are yet to come for Canada.

Well s_lone, i am born and raised in Alberta, and I would fully support Dion not because he's a Quebecer, but because he is a good leader. I don't think geography should have anything to do with leadership.

But you are correct..he is reviled by Seperatists....

The liberal will have lots of time to think about what they did while they are sitting as official opposition to the conservative MAJORITY. It's coming.

Damn it, Five, we HAD a national flag, the Canadian Ensign, and a fine flag it was!

The British fact in this country is PART of our identity.

Although for awhile there, while the Liberals were in power, I was beginning to think a DEAD maple leaf was a fitting symbol for the nation...........

Hey, s_lone
what does "nation" mean in this context? Is this really a change or does it just give Quebec a title?
This sounds like it is not a new nation but some special status in Canada. If that is the case I think it is acceptable, if it makes Quebecers happy, but don't see what difference it will make but to make all the other provinces wonder why they don't have nifty titles. Please excuse my ignorance if this is somehow obvious.
