Quite the discussion brewing on this one...

One way of looking at it...

--Perhaps our Minister of Health should tell the United States to get serious to provide health care to millions of Americans without any primary or secondary health care!
--Hmmm, no succesful attacks on Canadian soil yet, maybe they should be taking notes instead of giving lectures. Wink
-- Maybe the head of the FBI should worry about his own country and butt out of the internal affairs of one of their "sovereign" allies.

And another

-- Would you like to comment on the folks recently caught in Toronto too?

All 3 of those were real or potential terrorist attacks from Canada. Don't you think that would worry them, and shouldn't it worry us too?

Funny how history and facts get thrown out the window when the anti-American free for all starts.

The Americans see terrorists hiding in the Canadian bushes waiting to cross the boarder, every time Republican poll numbers go down.
Terrorists went into America from 'Florida and the eastern seaboard.
America has be accustomed to living in a climate of fear.
In addition they have conducted themselves in a fashion that much of the world hates them, they should not be pointing fingers at us before they clean up their own act.

Uh yeah, but part of cleaning up their own act, is ensuring that they can live in peace in their own country. Without the fear of unwarranted attack on innocent civilians by terrorists. The same can be said for the nation of Israel.

Terrorists have crossed into the United States via Canada. This is a documented fact. When the U.S. government is satisfied that their people are safe from such attacks, then you can rally around the drum and make demands that the U.S. stand down. Until that time, they have a right to defend their nation and peoples.

I don't think anyone will argue that the threat does not exist. The threat is very real. The efforts by the U.S., likewise, should also be very real.

I believe that Canada's notorious status as a haven for organized crime and terrorism is very real. We, as a nation, are far too tolerant of those that would seek to do us harm. Even if that harm is only by means of the perception that America views us as a launching pad for terrorist attacks. I think that Canadian officials have every obligation to take whatever steps necessary to quash this perception -- however valid or exagerated it may prove.

One US measure that we should also adopt (I don't know why we haven't till now???) is to put an immediate halt to immigration from countries that are known to harbor and support terrorism (ie. Syria & Iran). In regards to immigration from the Middle East, we should be looking at countries that are strong allies and are helping us fight terrorism, like Jordan and Kuwait.

Allowing folks from terrorist based countries to immigrate here will raise the risk of terror based cells in our country.
