It is, of course, a photo op.

And, it is, of course, a way of trying to offset his support for Israel with the Lebanese/Arab/lefty community.

It is, of course, political opportunism.

But it is a good thing, nonetheless.

I like Harper more and more actually. For a politician, he doesn't seem a bad sort.

I believe it was the one in reply to me in which he hoped the kidnapped Israeli soldiers would be tortured to death.

I don't know, it is just a guesss.

It could be, like with Steinbeck's Nobel Prize, he is being recognized for the entire body of his work.

Just how would he have done or said different? At the time of his "measured" statement the conflict was at its beginnings. Once the conflict escalated his statement changed.
Israel was attacked and they are defending themselves. What else do you expect them to do? Do you think that anything any politician outside of Israel or Lebanon could say anything that would change the course of events? The only politicians who could stop this live in Syria and Iran and remain conveniantly silent towards their puppets,Hezbullah.

Let me get this straight. You claim Stephen Harper, Canada's Prime Minister, the man we elected into our highest office is going to Cyprus as part of a photo op? He does it also to offset his support for Israel with the Arab/Lebanese/leftie community? It is all political opportunism? Tell me, what exactly is his job? What is a Prime Minister after all? I am just curious as to your own views.

What in your opinion would you constitute as being more constructive for our nation's Prime Minister than to visit Cyprus at a time of Canada's largest rescue operation in history?
