Now we know what party people vote for. But, what is un-known, what is yourleaning. Because there is leftist Conservative, Right wing conservatives, and other and on and on. So what are political leaning on the spectrum are you.

I would say I would lean to the left of the NDP spectrum but sometimes to the center. But I would still be classified as a lefty.

So this would conclude if you were say a central guy to a conservative platform like you are right-wing on some issues, but more centralist or leftwing on others.

Yup - 'none' is the appropriate answer.

When considering an issue, I say do your best to view it objectively and consider all sides of the argument. Do not allow rigid ideologies or myths to cloud your vision or the proper course to settle the difficulty. Apply realism and a meaningful solution can more readily be found.

Well I'm a Centre-Leftist on most issues, but generally I think I would be considered to be on the right wing of the New Democrats, because of my views on gun registry, and a few other things as well. I don't really fit with the extreme tree hugging left or the fringe marxists of the party nor the new centre of the party which seems to have moved ever so slightly to the left since the last election. Though I'm close enough to the centre of the party to not be on the fringe of the right, as the socialist cacus is on the fringe of the left of the party.

I'm also one of the New Democratic members who wishes to expell the openly Marxist-Leninist Socialist cacus, but even so they have writhered enough inside of the NDP to a fraction of what it once was and has little sway, or none at all with NDP policy. So that alone almost makes me content.

If I were a Liberal I'd most likely be considered to be on the left wing of that party on most issues, well besides things like gun registry.

I'm pretty right-wing, but I put myself down as Conservative Centrist.

I believe strongly in medical care available to all.

I understand there are those in society that need a social safety net.

I've been a union man all my working life.

So, there it is..........

I lean towards the Green's, which were not mentioned in this poll. For whatever reason I cannot understand.
I believe in helping people, but they also have to learn to help themselves.
Doing things for the environment is important.
No environment, no nothing else.

Damn, I am on the left of the NDP spectrum no one else. Which is really good I would say because if we get more centralist or other views into the party it wouldn't be scary.

too true.

Yeah I was watching CPAC yesterday and the Liberals were so scared of the NDP in all its comments, and the COns mentioned this it seemed to the Liberals that the NDP was in charge.

And I thought, one day. :D

Agreed. I think the Liberals are useless really. They govern right-wing and pretend to be a left-wing party.

Don't hold your breath.

The thing is, Canada is not really a left-wing country, anymore than it is a right wing country. Look at the Liberals, they have ruled for decades practically without interuption by campaigning from the left......mouthing all those "values" platitudes.....and then governing from the right. The only major interuption was from Mulroney, who spent like a mad Liberal, and who I always considered a Liberal in a blue suit.

Right now the Liberals have a problem, they are leaderless, and at sea. The Conservatives have moved to the centre, threatening their right flank. The NDP have profited from anti-war, anti-US sentiment, and threaten the leftflank. Until the Liberals find a new leader, and settle into a new set of policies and philosophy, they are going to be harried.

Personally, I am with Bob Rae on one thing, I would like to see a Liberal-NDP marriage into the Liberal Democrats. I think this country works best with a two party system............and over time the Bloc will loose influence.

An NDP government?

Won't happen, unless the NDP become just like the Liberals. They are simply too far left, as Reform was too far right.

Oh yeah. Jersay?

In 25 years you won't BELIEVE how conservative you've become.

It's a learning process. :)

I don't know Colpy. There are people when they are teenagers and such who are NDP or socialist and want to help people and change the world and all that stuff that after like 20 years become conservative.

But then there are some who just stay that route and be socialist or humanitarian.

Because I am a Humanitarian before I am a socialist, and unlike all the other political ideologies, socialism, or the left-wing of the spectrum appeals to me because it takes a human being for a human being. That everyone should be equal, that one person doesn't deserve to live off his father's or grandfather's earnings while there are people starving in the same city.

No one starves in Canada unless they are crazy, and want to.

Are you saying that the fortune my father earned (not really, I only WISH) should be stolen from HIM by proxy, in other words he should not be allowed to dispose of it as he wishes?

Let me say I agree with reasonable inheritance taxes. At the same time, you have expressed the biggest problem with socialism.......mankind is basically self-obsessed, like it or not, and if one can not enjoy, and dispose of the fruits of their labour as they see fit, then why would one labour?

For the good of society as a whole? Don't hold your breath.

Oh yeah. Some people learn..........some don't. :)
