Capital punishment issue should be revived

The capial punishment issue should be revived. All child molesters, rapists, people with child pornography, etc. should be executed. Along with murderers. All of these sickos should be executed. And this is one thing I would like to see Stephen Harper bring up.

What's your opinion on capital punishment?

Capitol punishment should never come back.

1. Its barbaric

2. Humans are fallible and make mistakes. Can't reverse that one if you get it wrong.

3. There is noting more big government than taking another's life.

It is critical in the judicial system that government errs on the side of caution, which is why one must be proven guilty "beyond a reasonable doubt". That's almost impossible when death is involved.

let's say tomorrow they arrest you with some evidence. and 2 persons witnesses that you were involved in something. No one believe what you say and Mr. Harper orders to execute you. Then a minute after your execution the police finds out that you were innocent. How would Mr. Harper say to your parents that the police didn't find the right witness before.

What do you think about it?

Recently, a man, in quebec was released after being 10 years in prison. He was put in prison with false witness. Now they found out that he was innocent and he was released. What would happen if that person was executed?

The way the governement, the police, the hospitals, the prison works are perfect. No need to make major changes. If you them to work more, make them work more. But you cannot go and execute them all.

Oh. So that's what you think is the solution. Let these sickos run around and molest children, rape women, and murder people. If you think its OK for these sickos to run around, you're a sicko. What about all of the victims of these sickos? Their lives are ruined.

How would you feel if someone came along and molested your kid, raped your wife, or murdered your family? If it were me, I'd want that sicko executed.

if s/he cought s/he is put in prison. if s/he is not cought s/he cannot be executed. and s/he still remains the treat.

How would you feel if someone came along and molested your kid, raped your wife, or murdered your family? If it were me, I'd want that sicko executed.

And how would you feel if your father or mother was innocent but executed by the state?

This is a stupid argument. I agree with Toro and dekhqonbacha. The death penalty is such a barbaric act that it has been removed. These sickos are sent to prison, some get lesser sentences then what they deserve but others spend, 10, 15, 20 years in prison.

Some deserve to be in prison for their life long sentence but I believe that the death penalty is just as bad a crime when innocent people are executed.

And if the death penalty is ever reinstuted the family of the innocent executed man should sue the party that brought back the death penalty and other organizations and peoples related to that party. So would you enjoy opening up your wallet book Jon.

What's your opinion on capital punishment?

I can think of half a dozen Canadians convicted of murder in the last 25 years that proved to be innocent.

What do you do after you've executed them? Dig them up and apologize?

I would make an exception for mass killers. Try them separately for each killing, in front of a different judge, and a different jury. After the third conviction, execute them within three months.

Without that triple jeopardy protection, I wouldn't support capital punishment.......except perhaps for treason.

I have to agree with Colpy, the only way I think capital punishment should be used in Canada is for treason.

I disagree about the three convictions and such. If you keep them in prison for the rest of their lives, for example Bernardo they suffer. He isn't having a picnic. And get a few of the general inmates deal with them once and a while and they would be in hell. :twisted:

I support capital punishment and it should be reinstated in Canada.....1st degree murderers should be executed if there is overwhelming proof of their guild (DNA evidence could be a deciding factor).

I disagree with executing rapists and people with child porn because it is a disease (unless of course a life was taken), instead these people should be locked up for upwards of 25 years to life......

Yes, Hank C, I agree that there should be solid proof to execute someone. But why do you think that child molesters, rapists, etc. should just be thrown in prison? Being a sicko is not a disease. If someone thinks that raping someone is OK, they should be executed.

If Harper wins a majority government, it will happen. Not that I want Harper to win a majority.

The death penalty will not come back to Canada. Even if Harper does get a majority it would be suicide.
