Ralph's view of Canada

We have all heard by this time of the mal treatment of seniors in the Province of Alberta. If you have followed my text you will know I have said on a number of occasions that Ralph owns the judicial system in Alberta.
Ralph’s view of Canada was recently demonstrated in southern Alberta.

A newly formed Seniors Action group, a group of well meaning people who want to stop the steady deterioration of seniors care and bring a halt to the exploitation of vulnerable seniors in this province went to the Alberta courts with a suit prepared to hold Ralph and his party accountable for these travesties.

The court in Alberta has said the Seniors Action Group (volunteers) must come up with a 400,000 dollar deposit with the court, the purpose of which is to reimburse the province for it’s losses should this group loose.

In this action they have effectively blocked any recourse by seniors! We certainly know by now exactly who is at fault and why.

This government is rotten from its core out!

Is this the man you want for a Senator?

Considering how close Mr. Harper and Mr. Klein are, it will be a moral test when Mr. Harper responds to Ralph’s meanderings.

RE: Ralph's view of Canad

Have I mentioned ENOUGH times how much I hate him? He has been in power for OVER HALF MY LIFE. I wish he would just go. He's the poster boy for term limits.

I am trying to garner support from the society that attempted to bring this action forward. I want to explore the opportunity of bringing a court of public opinion to bear on the net!

Perhaps get a new heading Court of Public Opinion. Start it off with this terrible thing.

Oppositon? What opposition. The Libs in this province..all 10 of them...are barely there. The only party that gives any appearance to giving any opposition is the NDP...and even than, the big blue machine will shut them down.

The NDP is apart of the opposition in Alberta.

Wouldn't it be cool one day if the NDP was in charge of Alberta, provincially I mean.

The blue ink barrel is powefull!

Brian Mason (NDP) manages to catch a few headliners with some fire-brand comments now and again.

Kevin Taft (Lib) is really great on policy but as a media catch he's like watching paint dry. The population at large is more attuned to sound bites than assessorial speaches.

The web rules in Alberta, not from sound bites but by offering the people some honest journalism, investigated and published without regard to which side of the issue it falls on.

Ralph's world is very often plagiarized and even more often used as the pin to launch proper enquiry.

Ralph's world is not interactive; this forum is!

I would love to see a court of pubic opinion opened with a running talley vote on each case we sit on.

BC has tried it - twice. Once in the early 70's, once in the early 90's.

It seems like each generation has to try it once, like a lot of things.

The Albertan's were close to the ND in BC, thats why they are scared. We have BC people arrive in Alberta in Droves because the ND put them out of business! Cell phone industry comes to mind.

Then there were squabbles with people trying to upgrade their property on islands. The ND came at them saying they had to build roads, pave them an create parking lots and boat docks on the shore opposite their island paradise before they would be allowed to build.

I think the Federal ND have become a little more moderate even centre on environment. If that is the case they would be okay. A dose of what BC got though, I'm not interested in.

Government Scare Tactics Are Denying Alberta Seniors Access to Justice

Lethbridge – Alberta Liberal Seniors and Community Supports critic Bridget Pastoor is pressuring the government to withdraw their motion requesting a $400,000 security deposit from the Elder Advocates of Alberta Society before proceeding with a class action lawsuit, calling the move an unacceptable scare tactic to restrict Alberta seniors’ access to justice.

“The government is using bullying tactics to keep a potentially embarrassing lawsuit from reaching the courts,” said Pastoor. “They are attempting to silence a non-profit senior’s society with a huge monetary burden. It is a shameful way to treat Alberta’s seniors.”

Pastoor is responding to the filing of a notice of motion by the province last week requesting the Elder Advocates of Alberta Society, a non-profit organization, be required to put up $400,000 to cover the government's legal costs if the society's lawsuit is unsuccessful.

The Elder Advocates of Alberta Society filed the lawsuit last August claiming the province unfairly raised fees for nursing home residents while cutting funding for long term care facilities.

Pastoor says the government may be responding in such a harsh way to this class action lawsuit because of the aftermath they faced following a potential $100 million class action settlement with Alberta’s AISH recipients and widow pension recipients.

“First the government attempted to bury the AISH lawsuit, and now they are using heavy-handed tactics to discourage seniors from seeking justice,” said Pastoor.

Pastoor wants the legal loophole the government is using to be closed so they cannot bully away any more class action suits against them.

“By demanding they pay $400,000 in preventative legal costs, the government is restricting this advocacy group’s access to justice,” said Pastoor. “The use of these heavy-handed tactics against a group of seniors who have voiced legitimate concerns about the long-term care system is unnecessary and unfair.”
