Harper's health care plans unveiled!

The word is in!
Harper set to re write the Canada Health Act!

“Harper was one of six authors of the infamous letter calling on Klein to take on Ottawa over health care.” (Sic Edmonton Sun Jan19th)

In anticipation of Harper win Klein spends millions on PR firm to sell his Third Way of downloading health care costs to individuals! (Sic Edmonton Sun Jan 19th)

The Alberta Minister of Heath writes me a well crafted document (January 17,2006) that says “Our government is proposing health care renewal that will enable patients to have choice and timely access to health services. Part of our plan considers a review of how supplementary health insurance might play a role in funding accessible, high-quality health care in the province in the areas of prescription drugs, continuing care, supplemental heath products and services (e.g. dentistry and optometry) and non-emergency health care.

Before we can decide if supplementary health insurance is a viable option, we need to thoroughly evaluate different insurance schemes and how they would work here in Alberta. We need to ensure that Albertans are treated fairly and that our health care system remains sustainable.”

The Calgary Health Authority is writing a new list of what is going to be covered under health care and by extension, what is not. To their credit there is no attempt at promising universality. There is no universality under this program.

People (numbering in the tens of thousands) with family history of Immune response disorder, cancer, diabetes and other such systemic illness will quickly discover there is no coverage available to them from any quarter!

The last effective renewal program I heard of was Augusto Pinochet, Mr. Kleins hero.

In the same letter the Minister distances herself from all health care problems by re directing enquires to the CEO Capital Health region, Ms. Sheila Weatherill; also Alberta’s largest single private employer.

In these situations hospitals are set up like casinos with legal staff on hand to take liens on your house and property. Hospitals for the Indigenous people (those who have run out of house and property) will be set aside. This is the US system!!

Health care costs to be downloaded to individuals’ en-mass! The only thing stopping this is the Canada Health Act which will be changed to accommodate these actions if Harper is elected!

Health Care limitations are controlled by Government budget constraints! MRI machines, hospital beds, waiting lines, to name a few. Line ups are artificial headline grabbing political panic tools! What is fair is subjective!

There is no evidence to support the popular unsustainable quick pick! Seniors are using far less of the health care dollar (less than ½) of what was predicted!

This election is the most important vote of your lifetime! Think! Do you want a piece of the same?

Role of the Senate

Hopefully, if we have any luck at all, the Senate of Canada would invoke its "lesser used" authority to defeat any legislative measures for the repeal of the Canada Health Act, if such a thing were to happen.

This has been well known since Harper's days as policy advisor to the National Citizen's Coalition. I cannot understand why any Canadian today would believe everything Harper utters during his election campaign. Clearly they have no idea about Harper's background!

Okay.

Once again.

Harper is a politician. As such, he will seek not only to gain power, but to keep it.

To do so, he must improve medical services to the majority of Canadians. That means public health care is VERY safe.

To do anything else would be political suicide.

And if Harper has done nothing else, he has proven he is NOT an idiot. Political suicide is not on his agenda.

Relax. Quit fear-mongering.

its ok. When Harper changes opinions on anything there are 10 articles posted on this board, but when Martin flip flops, or even Layton (regarding health care) the same is never done. You can't get all over Harper and give the other leaders a free pass, especially Martin! He's flip flopped even more than Harper, and usually in desperation.

Desperation?
Hell the whole country gets desperate at the thought of an extreme right wing big C Conserative govenrment coming in. More so when the track record of the individual is a whisper away from jack boots and street marches. Latest over here "Senate better pay him respect." is just a tickler of what he is about.
