I didn't know that the Criminal Code of Canada still contained provisions in relation to high treason against the Crown. Sections 46(1)(a) and 47(1) legislate that crimes against Her Majesty's person are punishable by life imprisonment (there doesn't seem to be any negotiation in respect of the sentence).
Also, Section 46(3)(a) indicates that persons who owe allegiance to the Queen, or who are citizens of Canada, are also guilty of high treason, in particular, if an action pursuant to Section 46(1)(a) is committed outside of the borders of Canada.
Just an interesting legislative tid-bit, lol.
:!: (Edit) Supplemental
Apparently, it is also an offense under the Criminal Code to do an act "with intent to alarm Her Majesty," punishable by up to fourteen years in prison.
