.....I see we have been kicking around the idea of a high speed train in the corridor for some time ...but it just never seems to fly.... probably because of the cost both to build and to use.
..... anyways the highway runnin through there is just fine with me..... I see lately they have been working on adding more lanes..... from 4 to 6 lanes and that is appreciated....I really hate sitting in holiday traffic all the way to edmonton and it seems that there are too many accidents due to psycho drivers hell bent on making the drive in 1 hour.

...... anyways I have always pondered this idea since I moved here....... now we all know that Edmonton is second in casino's in north america after Vegas and Atlantic City and Calgary and many small towns all over Alberta are in the same boat.... but the problem is that the Casino's are all spread throughout the cities.

..... we should put all the casinos in one area and make it like a northern Vegas...... and prime location would be Red Deer..... its loacated halfway between the major cities and itself is a fast growing city..... can you just imagine a Las Vegas type strip attracting even more tourists to the province......

....the money is there....we just need to think and dream BIG!!!!!

Uhhh, I got through Math 11 ( Academic), but that's all.

However, it STILL seems to me that your statement would make Edmonton third - or am I missing a part of the equation?

THIS! from a guy who lives in a major City that hasn't HEARD of the term "By-Pass"! Try going from Golden to Drumheller.... right through the north-central part of town.... Don't want to miss those attractive burger/pizza joints, and used-car lots, right?
PLUS! - what a calming effect it has on one's nerves, to sit in front of a Red Light, over and over again.

Go back to Texas or whatever....

You're just another American, telling us what we should do.... piss-off.

While we're thinking up wholly impractical ideas for Alberta. Why not make all of the roads through Banff into tunnels. That way the wildlife wouldn't get killed on the highway.

Youre so far off-base, you can see your ass up ahead of you.

1- I DON'T hate America; in fact I spent part of my life growing up there. So save your groundless accusations and victim-playing for someone you actually know.
What I DON"T LIKE is someone coming from another country and telling me what we should do with ours. If I tried doing that at Times Square, I might last about six breaths - unless you've taken out Citizenship, you're a GUEST here... something you should think about!
2- My career was Adminstration - again a cheap attempt to attack me. Bite me.
3- I WAS discussing Alberta, particularly the hick 50's piece of the TransCanada Highway that rolls through the north side of your city. When I drive on it, I keep expecting to see massive tail-fins on all the cars.

All that friggin' money, and no by-pass, eh? Nice...

diverting from glorifying...er......americanizing Alberta.....but if you got some genuine Ideas ......tell them to the powers that be. Not sure anyone here can do anything about it......and your message still comes across as "TELLING " Alberta what to do. simply put : that old US ARROGANCE.Sadly , you are an American.......and have not lost any of the Americanism you all have. You are IN ALBERTA now......so ADAPT to not only ALBERTA but CA. too.

for the record.......it is highly doubtful that ANYONE here "hates" America. That is presumptuous and the proverbial "recorded message" that the defensive ones repeat.(robotically) (also a form of "poor me"........."everyone hates me".) sheesh......enough of that crap already.

I think Ft. Mcmurray would be a good Northern Vegas, the people living there think it's as far north you could live in, and that's the first place the money from Suncor and the Oilsands gets to, then it trickles through Athabasca and Boyle, then Edmonton.

....umm I am a Canadian citizen....married to a born Canadian..... and have been paying taxes in this country from some time..... I have stated this many times on this forum.......

..... lol yea highway 16 ... horrible during rush hour and is not a freeway.....developers probably diden't plan for such massive growth in Calgary and therefore the main east/west passage through the city is a pain....... actually the eastern half is very good but it starts to deteoriate after you make it past freeway 2....all stop lights and porn stores.

...however if you been here recently, the city is buying out lots and planning to expand the number of lanes....its was already underway this summer actually....and hopefully in few years we can have a major freeway there.....

....there is soo much construction going on here though..... have you been on freeway 2 recently?..... its 6 to 8 lanes from Airdire almost to the Okotoks.

lol......and sry bout the personal attack ... its just that being attacked soo much on this forum by some of these nuts ...you tend to get a bit defensive. I mean nothing about my opening thread was in the least bit offensive...... but w/e

anyways so your from BC..... I have made the drive to Vancouver a few times..... you got a horrible winter death trap in the mountains until you get to the Coquihallia then its smooth sailing...
...but I also have to say that apart from the trans canada highway that runs to Vancouver there is a hugh lack of freeways and I find it frustrating to drive there..... i'd actually consider Calgary a much more driver friendly city.

Anybody that willingly lives in Vancouver would suck pucks and throw rocks at the moon.... I should know - I grew up there, after Oregon, from age 10 to 20. At that point I got out and never looked back...

Against WHAT? OTHER Monster-Megalopolis's ? ? ?

Gee, I guess Jeb Bush should be glad he doesn't look as stupid as GW - but so what?

Anyplace that takes more than 20 minutes to get out to the country is too feckin' big for me.... OH! And YOU TOO can have a half-million-dollar mortgage, for a small dump that was built in the Depression.

Marvelous, just bloody marvelous.
