Second Municipal Donation made to BC Liberal Party

The second time in two days the BC Liberal party has received monies from municipalities in order to have 'meetings' with various Liberal cabinet members. from the cbc vancouver site: "The Regional District of Central Kootenay paid $350 last August to send 14 representatives to a breakfast meeting with Economic Development Minister John Les". What do you think of this form of 'donations' made to a political party?

yeah, no gouging there, only charged them double their breakfast! plus a 'fee' just so you can talk to the ding dong in the legislature. amazing.

And then there were at least seven such cases and rising.
Not only that, there now appears to have been other agencies involved that raised thousands of dollars. It includes airport authorities and others. This could turn out to be a huge scandal by election day. I wonder why so many people are upset by the Federal Liberals doing such things while, playing down the Provincial Liberal, money scam? It all comes down to this, a Liberal is a Liberal is a Liberal.
This needs an inquirery into what happened.

There should be an inquiry . Campbell is just as corrupt as Martin but better at hiding it.

But if the NDP is even remotely close to taking a dollar from a union, it's a cardinal sin. Only a diehard Liberal could understand this logic and belive what Campbell says and promises.

hmmm....what about the NDP distributing BCGEU campain signs through NDP cadidate offices??? I thought that the two weren't connected

That's quite different than requiring municipalities to pay to be gain representation within the provincial government anyway, inspinificant.

well, i am sure there are a few 'corrupt' liberals running in the ranks, insig. i seem to recall an item around last christmas with members of the legislature being charged...something to do with bc rail, Dave Basi and Bobby Virk. does that ring any bells concerning current government corruption?

I remember that. Homes and offices being raided. A lot of people mumbling, "No comment," as they hurried by the TV cameras.

oh yeah, that's just the tip of the iceberg. the fact that everyone seems to have 'no comment' rev is nothing new on the issues involving the liberal party. the raiding of the legislature at the end of december 2003 showed the drug trade and money laundering of two senior cabinet ministers. the fact that the liberal party was taking 'bulk memberships' from dead people, dogs (!), people who spoke no english and others that didn't even know they were members of the liberal party.

oh well..... i am sure the liberal party isn't corrupt at all

but now it is a new day - a new era, so what if all this happened over 12 months ago...not that we have closure on these issues yet.

Isn't the BC Liberal Party made up mostly of old Socreds and supporters of the federal Conservatives?

yeah, i would be really curious to see if anything comes of it though. knowing the libs, they will gently dismiss it.

i can't believe that people would be expected to pay to a have conversation with someone they elected! it is just unacceptable. the liberal party here in bc has quite the reputation for this type of stuff, don't forget doug walls either -i think that was in 2003???he was another gem of the liberal government with a paid appointment.

Gordon Campbell has managed to buy his supporters through promises of personal wealth [ tax cuts ] and countless monetary gifts towards programs that make people feel wonderful [ skating arenas , the Olympics etc ]. If we try hard to remember Campbell's promises four years ago, we'd recall that he broke most of them and bent the rules to suit his needs when little ol Jennie Kwan and Joy Mc Phail were nipping at his ass. But like the true classy politician he is he gets pissed in Hawaii and while messing with some babe from the media in Vancouver [ no kissing and telling here ... the media must have been warned to shut up ....] gets caught, cries a bit like Jimmy Swaggart and begs BC for forgiveness and promptly gets back to the business of slashing and gutting health and education just to name a few of the needed survival aids BC'ers rely on. This is the same guy who attacked and condemned Gordon Wilson who carried on a relationship with fellow party member Judy Tyabji. This is a guy who set up Glen Clark for his fall over a 10' x 10' deck on his house. I suppose a good Liberal would tell you that none of this matters ....as long as what Gordy does " works for me. "
When class and principals matter to Liberal voters , I wonder how it feels to know that Campbell broke another of those valued campaign promises and opened up more gambling in BC to shake a few more million out of the pockets of British Columbians. Whatever gets 'em huh !
