I shall try not to gloat at my right wing compadres here in the forum :wink:

Now I get to plan a wedding! Woohoo! And there's no argument about who gets to wear the best shoes. That would be me. My better half will look yummy in a tux! And I get to wear something sparkly. Does it get any better? I better get over to eBay and start shopping for rings ....

Now, after listening to some loon on the radio and reading the last two posts, I should come to the conclusion that all all Catholics are gay polygamists with a predilection for farm animals. It all hinges on the free beer at weddings.

Yuh know;

I got no legal reason to refuse other humans any enjoyment in life, so I agree with the supreme court ruling.
But, I can't handle seeing two guys smooching on TV. as happens in news reports.
I'm the same way with TV shows which are about hospitals and doctors doing open-chest surgery. It is not against the law for a doctor to work at what he likes best. But, I don't wanna see it.

Okay,we've covered gay marriage-now let's discuss gay divorce and the pitfalls of that.Saint John had one of the first gay church weddings in Canada and as far as I know,Carl and his partner are still together. Basically,the whole business is just lawyers making laws to benefit other lawyers who will handle these cases.

And Cosmo, when do we get the invitation? :wink:

But of course. You know, the more people you invite, the more gifts ya get :wink: Of course you pay for it by having to supply the merry-makers with booze, but the exchange is fun.

Calm, I agree with you somewhat. Whatever our gender preference, there is some trace of the the "ick" factor is watching people with a difference preference be intimate.

For me, personally, I simply cannot stand to watch any scene in which Richard Gere kisses anyone. Makes my skin crawl. Give me open-chest surgery any day! I read JD Robb because I love the story lines, but I admit I skip over the page after page scenes where she has wild monkey sex with her husband. Ho hum. On the other hand, if it is same sex characters, I don't skip over it. :wink:

My point, and I do have one, is that I agree that a certain level of decorum is necessary, but I find expressions of simple affection by any gender pairing is sweet. Just reminds me that love is a good thing. It really isn't about parts, but about hearts. Gawd, I sound like a Hallmark card here.

As a society we are unaccustomed to seeing same sex couples express affection. I think it's just a matter of giving us all time to adjust. At this point the gays all cheer any broadcasted kissing and the straights mostly get edgy. Everybody needs to settle down if same sex marriage is ever going to be just another part of our society.

Missile, your comment about it being okay for women but not men is so encouraging. You are halfway there! A few more baby steps and you'll be watching "Queer as Folk" with the best of us! :wink:

RE: Gay marriage legislat

The inanity level of the call in shows seems to rising since the ruling came out, that's for sure. I heard one guy on a local show today who was insisting that all the shows with gay characters on TV were a secret plot to lure children into kiddie-porn rings. The host never laughed at him.
