Hey! Tiff_24

Nice meeting you.

I've always despised the relationship between the press and politicians.

About how all the press is afraid to question our politicians just in case they refuse to appear on their show in the future, or to "leak" to that journalist in the future.

The press hardly ever asked a pointed question.
When they do, they never get an answer.
The news story then is described as "controversial" and not that the politician refused to answer the question properly.

Maybe you could do a paper on.....

"If Politicians told Newspapers the truth, would there be riots in the streets?"
Or:
"During a riot, do people buy newspapers or do they steal them?"

We need reporters who blow whistles, like whistle blowers do .... and not just hot air.

Right on, Calm.

By the way, if newspapers told the truth there would be rioting in the streets at first. Eventually the politicians and greed-heads would learn not to do things they feel compelled to hide though. Then the rioting would end.

Hey Tiff_24, feel free to browse around the forums too, to find a subject that you're interested in. I'm sure many of us would be able to direct you in the right place for correct information sources.

One of fmy avourits topics?

Interlinguistics!

You can find information at:

http://www.interlinguistik-gil.de/gil-engl.html
http://www.esperantic.org/

The above are more academically inclined.

And here are some ideas from a more political perspective:

http://web.inter.nl.net/users/Paul.Treanor/eulang.html
This deals with language issues from a very broad perspective, mostly a long list of links.

http://www.us-english.org/
http://www.englishfirst.org/
These are links to movements which seek to officialize English in the USA

The following deals with official US language policy currently
http://www-rcf.usc.edu/~cmmr/Policy.html

The follosing is a bill which attempted last year to officialize Englihs in the USA:

The following includes other miscellany relating to langauge issues in the wolrd, but especially the EU:

And just one more Canadian perspective among the many:

Just another quirky idea! :D

You could write about why President Bush's speech writer quoted William Lyon Mackenzie King, and why Pier 21 was chosen as the venue.
