I like the passionate eye, it's really an eye-opener to the things it covers. Thanks for the link, peapod.. If I'm around, I will watch it.

I don't watch CBC. Why not you ask? It's dubbed as the communist broadcasting corporation for a reason. I would rather my tax dollars go to other things like healthcare or better policing than to socialist propaganda.

it's only dubbed that by people who don't know that:

1) communism & socialism are NOT the same thing; socialism is the stage in the Marxist-Leninist model between capitalism and communism - it's as much communism as it is capitalism.
2) the last thing our healthcare system needs is more money thrown at it; we're near the top of the list for worldwide spending and near the bottom for quality.
3) pushing for better policing is attacking a sympton, not the disease.

and stop throwing around the word "propaganda" like a javelin; by the definition of the word it is merely the spreading of information reflective of the views of the person spreading it. that could be applied to almost anyone anywhere at anytime.

Yes me too FireJED, public broadcast is less influenced by bringing a message in favor of commercial companies. Here they are called Nederland 1, Nederland 2 and Nederland 3 (Netherlands 1, Netherlands 2 and Netherlands 3), and I like their insight programs and their space for broadcasting televisionprograms for minorities (Muslims, Hindus, Jews etc.)

Those who attack the CBC always say they never watch or listen to it. They complain about the tax money and try to say that all Canadians hate it. They have not taken the time to learn the facts though.

The fact is that CBC costs Canadians slightly under thirty dollars each per year. That's less than a case of beer, just to put it in perspective for those unfamiliar with Canadian currency and buying power.

The fact is that most Canadians who watch the news do so by watching CBC. That is not for a lack of competition...CTV and Global each have national and local broadcasts, CTV has a cable-news outlet, CNN and the American networks are all available in Canada.

CBC is recognised by the international press for the high quality of their reportage.

The CBC website is the most-visited website in Canada.

The CBC is a national treasure. To scrap it would be to scrap a piece of Canada and we would all be worse off and less-informed if that were to happen.

What the heck kind of beer you drinkin', Rev? Unless you're talkin' a 2-4...

I like the CBC. I don't have cable, so I have limited choice, but there are still some pretty good shows. And their coverage of special events is second to none. The Olympics, for example.

The CBC is one of the best things canada has to offer. Its like a huge bulletin board about our country, and the people that dwell in it. And I was quite moved that I got to mourn morse with lots of others on the CBC...sniffle...sniffe...I hate colin dexters guts..for ending morse's life that, the bastard!!! in the end, just lewis to give him a goodbye kiss on the forehead
