Well...The only language used in that forum seems to be English..and Since the province of Quebec is part of it..Why no ones here use a single word of french ??

That s disgust me..I speak both languages but as i can see in this Canadian(?) forum..the only and one language in this great(?) country is english..

This is the way that, we French Canadians have been assimilated

I went into the army when i was 17 , and after only three weeks in a french base (St-Jean) , of my training , we had to speak english !!

French Canadians will always be second class citizens..as the african americans are in the States...

This forum spoken uniquely in English is a good proof

I m sure there are Quebecers in this forum and they use english instead of their primary language and this is a shame !

Quebecois...Tenez vous debout et ne soyez pas gener d utiliser votre langue dans ce forum , dis Canadien...

and for those of you (and they are many) who haven t understand what i Said :

Quebecers ...Be proud and don t be shy to use your french language in this so called Canadian forum !

That s all i have to say for now

I know that some of our Anglo fellow Canadians will be upset by what I said but i don t care !

Oh , and thanks in advance for your future warm welcomings !

A Proud Quebecer and Canadian (yes I m not a separatist)

..and now you steals our girls...Wow..when married what language will be used at home ?...

hhh..let me guess..

And that s another way to assimilate us...

we were (french canadians) over 30 percent in the 40 s and now i think it s below 23 %

And another thing...

Anglo Canadians thinks that the English people are mistreated in Quebec

I ve got some news for you

They got their universities, their radio stations and television stations (in a number nearly egual ours)

Even in Quebec City...where they are les than 3 percent they got their tv station !!

Can you say that for the french canadians in other provinces (excepts New Brunswick i admit) ?

IF the anglo population in Quebecs diminish it s because their emigration towards other provinces) and since the natality rate of french canadians is one of the lowest in the world...If it was not of the anglo emigration..We would become a minority in 3 or four generations
...

Have we seen Anglo canadians since 1867 ?

1 or 2 maybe..

that s all for now

Proud_Quebecer. I did send you a "welcome to the forums" private message in French. I'm a main contributor to this web site and ofcourse we will embrace French.

Canadian Content was started by a couple guys from different parts of Canada. We did not have any French content except that which is provided in our Directory. Our content writers are all Anglophones.. but if you want to contribute to Canadian Content in another language, everybody is free to contribute. Heck, I would even create a French counterpart to our commentary and news site with the help of other developers if we had people willing to provide commentary en français.

Additionally, if anybody wishes a French-only forum to be created, I'd be willing to open one up tonight if there's enough interest!

Finalement!

And, I agree. The anglophones in Québec do complain more then they should. I think they are still iky on the fact that even though Canada is english, we (french speaking Québécois) control our province and Nation. Though only to an extent, its enough to ensure our survival.

Also, I doubt we are being assimilated. Maybe french canadians are, but not Québécois. We have many francophones from accross the world that immigrate here every year. The english speaking community is slowly going down. Though Ottawa is attempting to prevent many Francophones from immigrating here (Notably, Lebanese, Algerians and Marrocains), 100k Haitiens live here. And thousands more immigrate here every year. We shall always be around, and growing, thanks to laws that protect us. Though they won't protect us forever, that is another reason why I am a seperatist.

I would be against the creation of a francophone forum.

This actual form of this forum is pretty good. We can speak the language we want. I don't see why a good formula should be changed!

It's only sad some anglophone wouldn't be able to understand some message (and on the other part, some franco can have difficulty with writting/read/understanding english)....But I do think it would be possible for someone who have the time (the poster or another person) to translate....

Since Francophone conversation is in the minority here right now, why not have a forum specially for chit-chat in French only? None of the moderators plan on deleting any french posts in general forums. Since there's an interest in a French forum, why not have one?

Canadian Content is about free speech (by the way, that doesn't mean we can host any conversations that lack legal integrity (IE. Illegal acts like warez or pornography).

Good point! I was in a taxi a couple of weeks ago and the driver started chatting with me. So it turned out he was from Congo and we conversed in French for the rest of the ride. He mentioned there's not a lack of Francophones in Toronto, atleast.

In Penetang, Ontario, there is a large French-Canadian community who speak mainly acadien. There's also not a lack of them as most goto French immersion and keep most of their French after they leave home.

A lot of the other Acadien/French-Canadian populations throughout Ontario are very scattered in different parts -- so it won't surprise me if they eventually become "assimilated".. but there's a lot of opportunities in big cities (especially Toronto) to use, learn and practice French as I'm finding now.

Well, I was talking about Québec only. Thanks for adding some for Ontario, I didnt know that at all :) Though I knew of the French-Canadian communities. Many or somewhat cousins of the Québécois, usually large families of former "coureur des bois" that established themselves in former New-France and then Province of Québec lands (before the Conquest, and after before the creation of Ontario).
