Hello:

I was just hearing that there is renewed interest in Turks & Caicos islands to associate with Canada. These are several islands that sit in the northern Caribbean. At some point earlier, this was attempted, but the cost/benefits did not work then, I am told. I hope that the acturies can get together this time to make it a reality. The benefits that I can think of now are: The looney would have a home in the Caribbean, the islands (who have very few residents) would have jobs and a higher standard of living. Looneys could retire there and still be home, etc. If you think this is an idea whose time has come? log on to: http://aplaceinthesun.ca
or write or call your rep in Ottawa.

Well I don't know exactly what you mean when you say carribean associating with Canada. Do you mean willfully becoming Canadian colonies -- as a general idea? Or just adopting our Canadian dollar?

The history of this idea is in the link below. First suggested in 1917 by Prime Minister Borden, and several times since. Islanders want an association with us very much.

A place in the Caribbean to spend Canadian dollars? What's not to like? Let's do it.
