Canada's economy added 48,000 jobs in January

Canada's unemployment rate dipped to 6.8 per cent last month as the economy added 48,000 jobs, Statistics Canada reported Friday.

The numbers blew past economists' expectations of a loss of 10,000 jobs after a strong showing the previous month, too.

Instead, the economy has added nearly 100,000 jobs since the end of November and averaged more than 40,000 new jobs a month since August — the strongest six-month period in more than 15 years.

Thankfully, unlike under Harper's tenure, there aren't just people hired to work at McDonald's.

15,000 full time jobs!

The rest are probably crappy tarsand jobs but we're stuck with those until our population gets smarter.

It's easy for a government to promote growth through borrow and spend policies. The trick is maintaining it into the long term.

Thankfully, unlike under Harper's tenure, there aren't just people hired to work at McDonald's.

Harper was borrow-and-spend too, just not as bad as our present government. At least Trudeau doesn't carry the same xenophobic paranoia though.

Good news. Let's keep pushing huge boat full of coal to China. Our weak dollar is helping our exporters, not so much the 'little people', but hey!! The employment hike was one month, and long overdue, nothing for close to 2-years, but let's hope it continues.
