Andrew Lawton reports, when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that the cost of his state visit to Washington, D.C. would come in at just over $25,000, he was a bit impressed knowing how wasteful government can be. An international trip with 44 people at that price would have been an exercise in fiscal restraint but it turns out, he was right to be skeptical.

That's usually how much it costs when you factor in the 'coming from Canada' U.S. fee.

And this is before they put up the wall.

New Democrat MP Jenny Kwan said there’s a real question whether all of those staff should have been on the trip, but she's also concerned about having to probe the Liberals for the full cost.

"The disclosure initially actually only showed $25,000, and it took a lot of work to actually get this information to let the public know," she said. "That didn’t come from the government automatically."

What would Harper have turned in as the bill on his trips of similar size? I seem to recall the bill for security at the G7 in Toronto was $1B. Nobody batted an eye.

Always, how much was spent on the funeral trip where the AB leader flew back on a different flight at the cost of about $10k. 1/4 M sounds like a lot but it won't even buy a modest home so to take close to 75-100 people for that price seems quite cheap. Look at Obama's vacation costs if you want a peek at what abuse looks like.
I would be more interested in who he was meeting with after the official meeting was over. Putin perhaps???

Why not? His provincial counterpart in Ontario has a smoke-and-mirrors habit of telling us her damage will be 90% less than it really is too. The only place they're truly liberal is with the bullshyte

Wow. This certainly makes one question even further whether Trudeau's little date night in Japan with his wife was at his expense or ours.

Got any insights, I'm thinking trying to dig up some pipeline business between China and Russia would be something that would be a skill-set that Canada has an upper-hand in.

Looking not so far in the past; looking at the present, the future is looking quite bleak. All CDN's need to do, is watch the going on in Ottawa, the House is full of arrogant people who believe that they have the right to take our voice away and make decision for us!! When levels of arrogance reaches that degree, normal citizens are in trouble, because a small handful of people think themselves smarter than the rest. The fortunate thing is that they are wrong, their are a lot of smarter people watching and objecting, which hopefully will keep some things in perspective.
