Great moments in naiveté: "Insufficient political will".
A conservative estimate of Canada's existing carbon-absorption capacity, based on land area and the global carbon-absorption average, indicates that Canada could already be absorbing 20 to 30 per cent more CO2 than we emit. Using the same calculation, the "Big Four" polluters of China, the U.S., the European Union, and India, which together are responsible for a whopping 60 per cent of global CO2 emissions, release 10 times more CO2 than their combined land area absorbs. Canada doesn't seem very dirty now, do we?

So when was the last time you heard a Canadian political leader, let alone the media, talk about our carbon-absorption capacity? Probably never, because we are currently ignoring that side of the equation, for a couple reasons...

"Shhhhhhhhhh.....You are violating the first & second rules of
Global Warming/Cooling/Changing Wealth Transferring Club!"

Canada is evil and dirty, & must feel all consuming guilt in any
and all discussions of this topic, and must pay for the guilt both
outright in direct financial compensation to those deemed to be
more worthy by the middlemen who will skim off the Vig in the
wealth transfer to make us feel less guilty.

Canada must hamstring its economy to make it less competitive
on a global scale also, to be less able to pay these wealth transfers,
and to make other polluters into worse polluters by increasing their
national economies due to our own political stupidity to make us feel
less guilt. Misplaced guilt is still guilt which makes Canada guilty, so
Shhhhhhhhhh.....

Its OK Flossy has enough guilt about us not being a third world country to cover all us producers.

Yet I am sure he consumes just as much as anyone here.

Personal responsibility and sacrifice just isn't the NIMBY way.

I listened to much of the blather that came out of the Vancouver Conference on Climate Change and the only person who made a lick of sense was Brad Wall.

Yup. Did you notice Notley follows his lead? If she keeps doing that she may not be half bad for AB.

At the end of an interview Don Martin was having with Premier Brad Wall on Power Play yesterday, Martin asked him if he was thinking of a run at Federal politics - didn't catch Mr Wall's reply but couldn't help thinking that he would have my vote in a heartbeat.

Wall speaks for the best interests of his province, and the
nation as a whole, but not in French. Doubt it will happen.

I don't know about that, Ron. Mr Wall is a pretty smart cookie - bet he could pick up French fairly quickly if he chose too. Still, if I were a Saskatchewanian I would want him to stay right where he is for as you noted he does a darn good job of standing up for his province's interests and taking no guff while doing so.
