It seems like every week this Liberal government thinks of new ways to make it more expensive to live and work in Ontario.
Whether it’s the job-killing ORPP payroll tax which will take more off of your weekly paycheque, the fire sale of Hydro One which will result in further rate increases, or the death tax which puts an unnecessary tax burden on grieving families, Ontarians are paying more out of their pockets than they can afford.
Now, the Liberals are asking you to pay for the privilege of using roads that you’ve already paid for.
On Monday, the government announced that it would be moving forward with the implementation of high-occupancy toll — or HOT — lanes, in a pilot project along the QEW. The government also indicated further plans to expand along some 400 series highways in the coming years.
The announcement passed in typical Liberal fashion — full of photo-ops and press releases and short on details like cost.
