You might want to rethink that statement.

Cominco, Weyerhauser and a number of other high profile companies left BC due to the increasing tax burden being levied year over year... Add into that the impossibility of getting operating licenses (for new developments) and it was the gvt policy that chased them, and 10 of thousands of jobs away from the North and the interior.

None of those jobs were ever replaced

Nope. The NDP gov't did it's best to kill the mining and forestry and actually managed to get companies to move out of the province in herds. Workers making $300 a day were supposed to retrain and get service industry jobs making half that. And that was in between the scandals where the proponents of the left were busy trying to pad their own pockets. Glen Cluck, for instance.
