During the 1980's, the Liberals were known as the Natural Governing Party, and I heard one senior member say, half-jokingly, that it was their God-given right to rule Canada.
Brian Mulroney was PM for 9 years (1984-1993), and Kim Campbell for only a few months. So that's just under ten years.
Jean Chretien was PM for 10 years (1993-2003), and Paul Martin lasted 3 years (2003-2006) so that's thirteen years.
Stephen Hasbeen was PM for 9 years (2006-2015).
Before Mulroney, Pierre Trudeau was PM for 16 years (1969-1974).
