Poll: Support for mayor Tory ''sky high'', slim majority want 4th Scarborough
A new public opinion poll shows the honeymoon is still on for mayor John Tory but there could be trouble down the line in Scarborough.
Mainstreet Technologies polled over 2,300 Torontonians by phone on Sunday about support for the mayor, city council, local councillors and a few municipal issues.
Spokesman David Valentin tells Newstalk 1010 the survey shows support for John Tory six weeks into his mayoralty is "sky high" at 73% across the city.
"He's beating (support for) city council, they're at 51%," Valentin explains. "And then we asked Torontonians 'what do you think about your local councillor, are they doing a good job?' and 61% of them approve of the job that their local councillor is doing."
Mainstreet says Tory's approval rating is highest downtown at 85% and lowest in Etobicoke at 57%.
