At least someone is finally starting to take action over the robocalls scandal of the last election but it's been over two years and we still don't have any really good explanations of what really happened.

The federal conservatives get off lightly with just a $78,000 fine, but if the illegal campaign helped them win the election or even a few seats then it should mean a new election.

Robocalls Fines: CRTC Punishes Federal Tories, NDP, Two MPs And Racknine Firm

The federal Conservative party, which was fined $78,000, and Richards, who was fined $14,400, have yet to pay the penalty and have 30 days to do so.

Until Harper appoints an independent inquiry, people won't be satisfied with the response to this scandal either.

SO much for the ethical and honorable illusion that Harper has tried so hard to create.

$78,000?

I bet Harper can find some putz to cough it up for an appointed, taxpayer funded, malarkey position in kind.

Hither and yon
So pretty much every political party in canada is complicit to some degree.
A few fines have been handed out across the country to various parties.
Absolutely zero Federal seats or ridings are going to be overturned across Canada.
The whole thing has now pretty much been put to bed.
Thanks so much for keeping us up to date.

I hate to play devil's advocate here, but have they really proven anything on this?

By my understanding, the only person that is in legal hot water is the NDP dude that made unsubstantiated allegations outside Parliament... I also understand that he is facing a very substantial lawsuit.

So, in the absence of any proof of provable wrongdoing, it's just demands for a lynch mob to be organized

It's impossible to tell the difference between investigation and whitewash with the Harper government.

So you're basically trying to claim we should stick with PMO rules and only talk about Harper in ways he'd like?

That's nonsense, whether he(or you) likes it, Harper decided to run for office in a democracy, if he can't take the heat he should stop starting fires.

Nope. What I'm saying is that the endless I-Hate-Harper threads that are started by YOU are nothing but spam.

Really man, grow a set already

And I'm saying this is Canada, which is supposed to be a open democracy, if you have a hard time with criticisms of a leader you obviously find faultless then just don't participate in the political life of this country.

There's more than enough space given up here to endlessly condemning a government that hasn't been around for over seven years(or even a new leader of a party who hasn't even had time to prove anything yet) while the current one is up to all sorts of nonsense. And we're all supposed to sit back and nod and say, "yes, this is all fine with me"?

I knew I was ignoring you for a reason.

You're just pissing and moaning because YOU don't approve of the party governing, plain and simple and all of your posts are of petty, subjective issues... You talk a helluva game on 'Democracy' but are as quiet as a church mouse when it comes to past actions of EVERY other party that has been in power.

Fact is, there is no tangible arguments that you have in terms of the actual job that the Cons have done as evidenced by the fact that Harper has been at the helm for 7 years now. As such, all you have is to bitch and moan on all of the puny elements.

Hypocrite

You have eclipsed that space allocation at all the other parties with the ENDLESS stream of threads on essentially the same topic.

I knew I was ignoring you for a reason.

.. Yeah, because you don't have any rebuttal whatsoever for the comments that are generated from your childish rants.
