NDP making new law....is that a joke?

Friday the Manitoba government announced that 2% of its net proceeds from liquor and gaming to addiction programs AND said that it would pass a law which ensured that future government would have to continue the practice. Liquor, Lotteries fight addiction | Home | Winnipeg Sun

Isn't this the same government that just announced a 1% jump in the GST and will pass legislation removing the requirement of the public vote on any major tax increase.

What a joke. How can anyone support this type of 2-faced government and how can they even take anything they say seriously?

It sounds like they're recognizing addiction isn't just a legal problem.

It has nothing to do with the law that they want to implement but rather the fact that within days of indicating they were going to rewrite provincial laws to remove restrictions on themselves they have the gall to pass similar legislation and thump their chests that future governments will not be able to remove the 2% practice.

All that would require is a second law by next government voiding the first law or superceeding it. I do not believe that such laws can be enforced or unaltered.
