Sun wants TV freedom

"The Sun News Network believes in free enterprise, just like Sun Media newspapers do. But unlike the newspaper business, the TV business isn’t based on free enterprise.

In fact, it’s one of the Canadian industries most regulated by the government.

Everything from what channels are allowed on TV, to how much they charge cable companies each month, to the channel placement on the TV dial, is regulated by a government agency called the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, or CRTC."

Is TV an essential service?

I could see maybe one station as an essential service: CPAC, which coudl also serve as a national warning system in an emergency. I can also see funding educational programming in some specific cases. But other than that, is it right for the government to be funding any station while people are starving in the streets?

Imagine a world where you had no choice but watch univesity lectures on TV if you wanted to watch TV or 100% educational radio. Learning 24/7

There would be smart crazy people everwhere and govt wouldn't exist. We'd be too smart to allow such a sh*t system run our lives.
