OTTAWA - The federal Conservative Party on Friday produced copies of cheques for seven donors from a Montreal riding association who earlier had told Postmedia News they did not contribute to the party.

The cheques - all for $1,000 - appear to show that the donors who said they didn't donate did in fact do so, although not in the amounts that appear on Elections Canada's register of donations.

One businessman who earlier told Postmedia News that he hadn't donated to a Conservative riding association was able to recall his donation after Postmedia News published a story on Friday.

Now if we just get Joe "I don't remember how I paid for my son's wedding" Fontana to produce the damned evidence he says he has, or conversely, you know, step down as freaking mayor, things would be a little bit more right with the world.
