TORONTO - Thousands of demonstrators are marching through the streets of Toronto to protest what they call an unfair Ontario budget.

The rally is part of a province-wide campaign to tell the minority Liberal government its budget cannot stand.

More than 90 labour and community organizations are taking part.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath was among roughly a dozen speakers to address the cheering crowd in front of the legislature.

She says while she would rather avoid triggering another provincial election, she calls Liberals' budget "profoundly flawed."

The demonstration comes just three days before the Liberals face a crucial vote that could send them back to the polls.

Premier Dalton McGuinty has prided himself on maintaining good relations with the unions.

But he has come down hard on them lately as the government grapples with a massive deficit.

The Ontario Labour Federation says today's gathering is needed for the premier to "get the message" that many of his supporters are upset with proposed service cuts and wage freezes.

Dalton McGuinty should know better than to get in good with special interest groups (ya don't do that sh*t when you are premier) cuz once they have you in their pockets you never get rid of the bastards!

Of course the Unions want more taxation, more jobs for them and more power for themselves.

The hell with anyone that ISN"T a Union Member, they can just rot as far as the unions are concerned.

I wonder how many of the Thousands of demonstrators think they're
there to save the Polar Bears or to support the campers in the parks,
or are looky-loos just there 'cuz others are there?

Poor old Premier Dad made a parenting mistake. Over feeding - Yes that diet for public sector pay, benefits and pensions was quite rich. But it placated them as they became fat on tax dollars. Now it is diet time. And oh yes Premier Dad has made little progress on cutting the fat.

The cuts under Harris are nothing compared to what is coming.

What will probably happen in Ontario and in B.C. is that enough people will believe the union rhetoric and vote in an NDP government next time. Once they get the tax bill for having socialists without a fiscal clue they will soon want good government back. Seems people have short memories and need to be reminded of how much governments like to live beyond their means.
