The Rapture, Canada Post Style

The Rapture date has been moved from May 21 to May 25 2011 where our Canadian postal system is ready to pull the workers out to save them from rollbacks and staff reductions and our Canadian Messiah Stephen Harper can save us from this wrath.

Right now as we speak our Messiah and the angel MPs are working on a plan to come up with an agreement that will satisfy the workers and taxpayers.

The president of the Canadian Federation of Independent Businesses or CFIB sent an open letter to the government http://www.cfib-fcei.ca/english/advocacy/canada/26-labour_policy/2796-open_letter_re_potential_canada_post_strike.html

And the Canadian postal union or CUPW responded of their own open letter to the president of CFIB http://www.cupw.ca/index.cfm/ci_id/12966/la_id/1.htm

While the CFIB are quick to throw around terms like Cadillac pensions and sick time reduction and making tough decisions to deal with these so called rebel union workers, the president of the CFIB still refuses to answer those ever so important questions that consumers asks of them like when the government gives tax breaks to businesses or the consumers why do they increase the prices like the GST or corporate welfare.

CFIB is an association just like a union while associations do not have union reps they have people just as powerful called lobbyist and they descend into the political arena who talk to the decision makers with their ideas to help their clients who will supply some type incentives to make the decision an easier one.

Now all Canadians have to wait and see if our newly elected Messiah can pull off a miracle and postpone the rapture for another five years.

If the rapture does come and the mail is withdrawn there is good news for the people that have to get their mail out like in any rapture the sharks come out and will get the mail out for a bigger chunk of change because in the capitalist rapture the consumer always suffers.

One of the Canada Post driver's in on Friday said Canada Post wants to cut the starting wage for a new hire from $24.00 per hour to $17.50 per hour. I almost fell over hearing those numbers..It's still high, don't you think?

He also mentioned something a while ago about benefits but didn't specify.

“Postal strike averted – for now”
“OTTAWA — Canadians will get their mail on Wednesday after all.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers issued a news release Sunday saying there will be no “strike activity” on that day and it will remain “business as usual across our network.”…..
