It has to been Canadian, not extinct.

What is your favorite and why?

Me? Laff all you want.... yeah, yeah, yeah, get it all out......I say it's the raccoon! Why? Here are my reasons. No particular order whatsoever.

1. they play at nite
2. they adapt very well -- urban or rural
3. they're clever
4. they're trouble makers
5. they look cool
6. they're tuff
7. they're cute!!!!

My sentiments exactly, predators are way cooler than wimpy herbivores. I`d vote for the wolf. Big, tough, smart, sociable, fearless... I met one up close once while out hunting for upland game. It shadowed three of us for several miles, lurking at the tree line while we walked through fields, we lost sight of it for a while, then I came through some low brush and stepped into an open area and there it was, maybe 20 feet away. We looked at each other for a few minutes, neither of us moving, then it seemed to decide I wasn`t a threat to it or its pack, and it trotted off into the woods and disappeared, we didn`t see it again. Good thing, I was carrying a 12 gauge loaded with very light bird shot, number 7, wouldn`t even have slowed it down if it had decided I was dangerous. Wolves are usually smart enough not to attack people, but I had a distinct impression it was thinking something like, yes we`re watching you, don`t mess with us. I can respect that.

A --! 18-42 pounds and can kill a grizzly bear!

Now that, IMO, is cool.

The big mule deer in the interior of B.C., and the Moose, I was very close to a huge Bull Moose at Rock Lake in Ontario, in Algonquin park, it was awsome. and the beautiful Elk that
we have here on the island.

I would tend to go along with Dexter. The wolf is a special animal. I haven't hunted in quite a few years but around twenty five years ago, I watched a pack of wolves bring down a moose. We came out of the woods in a spot where we looked down on a clearing almost a mile away where a large moose was fighting for his life. There were about a dozen wolves and they had formed two lines. One line to the head and one to the hindquarters. The wolf at the head of either line, would make an attack and go back to the end of the line and wait it's turn to attack again. . The moose would turn to meet every attack and within less than a half an hour it was obvious he was getting tired. They finally pulled the moose down and it was over very quickly. The discipline of the wolves was awesome. I've read that a healthy moose will survive most of these attacks but the attack we watched was so one-sided, that the outcome was never in doubt.

Okay, I gotta admit the wolf is pretty awesome. It's definitely one of my favs. It's kinda of a give-in though. I mean, the wolf is obviously the coolest animal in Canada, hands down. Everybody loves the wolf. That's why I like the raccoon, I grew up watching them, and I've alwayz just liked them. Besides, they eat meat, so they ain't no wimpy leaf eater!

I vote for the coyote. They're ultimately adaptable. The Grandparents use to have a ranch
on the eastern edge of the Missouri Coteau Range just north of the TransCanada highway
(they called the ranch "Coyote Creek") where as a kid you could camp out in the yard in a
tent (a huge thrill at that age) and listen to the coyotes communicate up and down that range
of hills through the night. Thoughts of that still send goofy Goosebumps up my spine.

If I got to choose a second coolest Canadian animal, I'd also choose the Woodland Caribou
'cuz they're just so tasty.

I have a second opinion on this although I have answered already BUT I just could not remember the name, now I know it.

LUSCH (sic) -- combination catfish and eel. So ugly and vicious when caught makes them cool. Need a big knife or stick to put them down.
Excellent eating though.

Well for me it depends:

There is always the:

House Hippo..... But not much is known about them due to their reclusiveness

Then there is the:

Raccoon...... with their intelligence, resourcefulness and evolved hands for versatility to get anything they want, as seen in the above photo.

then there is the:

Canadian Lynx.... with their ability to be almost impossible to find in the forest and that they look cool.

then there is of course:

The Coyote.... no real explination needed.

But my pick for the time being would have to be:

The Canadian Timber Wolf.

I like the Chickadee. It's a delicate brave little thing whose little furnace keeps it warm in the deepest cold of winter.

I like the beaver. Cute, hard-working, build nice little houses. I also admire the beauty of the wolf. I must say though, coming upon a moose out in the wild, just a few meters away, is quite the awe inspiring experience.
