How Long Does It Take??

I've read a few threads on here where people say they have applied to move to Canada and not hearing anything for quite some time... but then it seems like they never actually come back on and say when they actually do hear back. So how long does it actually take? Can I "get in" without it? Will no one hire me until I'm accepted?

I'm only guessing but getting hired might speed things up as you would be employed when you arrived.

If you possess an in-demand skill or specialty, I imagine you could get approved to work here pretty quick.

I'm a librarian and my husband is an author. Those don't seem to be very "in demand" occupations, though we are both very skilled and qualified. I'm not sure if I should look for a job and then apply or if I should apply and then look for a job.

Perhaps... getting a degree at some university/college in BC would help?
