Oh baby! It's gotten much much better since back in the day. Those in the know cure the bud just so and then when it's time to make the Hash, the greatest of care is taken to make the best grade a real treat to have. Flavorful and potent it's damn near a spice itself.

For cooking though, there is only one way to go for those in the know. Cannabutter. A touch of EV olive oil allows for the butter to heat without scorching and infuse all that THC into the butter. Once the water cools the butter is easy to take off the top as it has a much higher congealing point. Then strain it to remove any particulate and you're good to go.

Then it's handy for any cooking you might want to add a little Schwang to. My friend makes some up now and again. Nice little puff pastry cheese balls both go the distance and make for a nicely measured dose. Or so I'm told.

A friend was making beer in a 45 gallon barrel. He also grew a crop of pot and had just harvested it so he put all he leaves and stalks into the barrel. The finished product was a cross between beer and champagne but had a real mild buzz.
Unfortunately, the first time we tried it, we were a little impatient and drank it a little green. We were fighting over the outhouse. When it was ready, though, it was a real nice drink (and I don't like beer).
Has anyone here tried that?

My understanding is that marijuana contains little THC. It has complex alkaloids which break down into THC when exposed to heat. ie burn.

The required temperature for conversion is more than 100 C, which means brewing a tea would not be efficient.

Fats and oils have higher boiling points than water and are sufficiently high enough to break down the marijuana alkaloids into THC, which is why cooking marijuana in brownies is efficient.

The alkaloids in dry marijauna are relatively stable and store well. THC is less unstable and doesn't preserve well especially when exposed to sunlight, oxygen, warm temperatures, excessive moisture...

Just add finely ground up marijauna to the brownie mix and cook well done. Expect results 30-60 minutes after eating. Do not drive or operate dangerous equipment while under the influence. Find a safe place with some friends. Don't make an ass of yourself. Be discreet.

Store uneaten brownies in a cool dry place away from children and animals. Sealed in plastic and frozen is best. Mark the container with a skull and crossbones, three big XXX's or some other scary symbols so your brownies are not accidently ingested by your mother...

3.50 is not too much for several hours of WEIRD

Just remember the stuff can make you goofy

OH and yeah, hashish got a little iffy in the mid 80's but with the "discovery" of bubble hash it got a WHOLE lot better, only problem is finding it
