His creative take on the realms of multiculturalism and broadcasting have, and are going to continue to have, an impact on Canada and its people. Cultural and artistic institutions continue to benefit from his advice and counsel (such as the Royal Ontario Museum and the International Institute of Communications).

During a time where so many are searching for the elusive "Canadian culture", we should be proud and excited to have persons so dedicated to their country and this search as are Bernard Ostry, and we should continue to encourage such endeavours, and to launch our own journeys and missions to that end. Contributions to our culture, perhaps more than anything else, are deserving of promotions to Companion.
I commend Bernard Ostry for his service to Canada.
