Passing of Bernard "Boom Boom" Geoffrion

The Right Honourable Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P., the Member for Calgary Southeast and Prime Minister of Canada, issued a statement today in relation to the passing of Bernard Geoffrion, a former member of the Montréal Canadiens.

During his illustrious career as a hockey player, in particular with the Montreal Canadiens, and until the end of his public life, Mr. Geoffrion gave us all an example of pride, determination and courage that are now part of our history.

On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to extend our condolences to the family of Mr. Geoffrion, and the expression of our admiration for a remarkable personality.
