Cheap helmets, probably don't do a good job.

Good helmets do.

Link = 3 kids. All wore good helmets, had bike accidents. No brain damage.

(that I'm aware of)

The little plastic ones that sit on top of the head are a joke. Full face helmets at least keep the contents in one spot for cleanup.

I like the policy in California. Anyone 18 or under must wear. 19 and over is voluntary.

Don't need a helmet if the only thing you use your head for is to keep your hat from falling on the ground.

The best of helmets aren't much good when the same cycle shop will sell you those cutsie-pie helmet skins that won't slide when they hit the road. I know a girl whose helmet spared her skull injury - but broke her neck when she went over the handlebars
