Toronto's first all inclusive resort

I had a bit of a chuckle when I read this. Since the provincial government relaxed the liqor laws, one can now offer "all inclusive" deals in Toronto. This place is just down the street from me, maybe I'll go there for a 1 night booze fueled vacation.

Who needs the Caribbean? Downtown Toronto will do fine


There’s no steel band playing. And the beach is a bit of a hike.

But a Caribbean style all-inclusive in downtown Toronto gives you three meals a day and all the booze you can drink.

“There are no beaches outside our front door — but we are right in the middle of the entertainment district, so it’s perfect for a staycation,” said Sally Ifill, general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Toronto Downtown. “Instead of hopping on a plane you can stay right in the city.”

Not to mention that it’s plenty hot out there as the city undergoes a heat wave to rival any tropical destination.

According to Ifill, this is the first deal of its kind in Toronto since the Ontario government liberalized liquor laws on June 1. Packages that include the price of alcohol can now be sold in Ontario. The new law also allows last call to be extended by one hour to 2 a.m. for special events such as weddings and charity balls. You also don’t have to drink in a beer tent if you’re at a festival, but will be able to walk around the event grounds.

They can always go down to Sugar Beach, pretend the harbour is the Caribbean, the old Redpath plant & the Corus building are state of the art resorts and ignore the Gardiner.

haha, I would pity anyone if they somehow ended up in the water at the harbour. It is a nice spot but I don't understand why anyone would go there when Cherry Beach is 10 minutes away

Agreed, the beach a jewel. The only problem is getting there, the Cherry St. route itself is less than appealing. I prefer going out of my way to get to the Beach by going the Leslie/Unwin route. I noticed there is a new Bailey bridge & a bike path over the channel.

yeah, getting to cherry beach can be a pain. During the summer through, you can catch the 72B at Bay and Front and it takes you right to the beach.

Are you talking about the bridge near the old Hearn Power plant?

Leslie Spit is nice in the summer as well, I've hiked the route out there a few times.

Yes, that's the bridge I was speaking of.

I've passed over it a couple times during my adventures in the area. I like taking photos around, I like the old rusty vestiges of our industrial past down that way.

I'm really hoping the AC is not broken on the subway again tonight, I nearly cooked to death going from York Mills to Bloor last night.

I like the "all you can smoke" B&Bs in Vancouver.
