nah I dont think so somehow, refined, they change our laws, with no consent from the average man on the street?...my dad loses his job because the EU doesnt want to manufacture tobbaco?...so it goes to romania?

Until having to put up with the burecracy, imcompatence and down right embezzlement of a continent got to her.
she's now the most anti-EU person in history.

what your talking about is a different matter than matters of culture
do you live in the uk
if so do you feel that eu membership is overall detrimental for the uk
an eu flag would include the uk of course -- since it is a member
im not sure what to say about people losing their jobs- that seems harsh-- isnt corporate abuse though

look, the European Union, in the UK, and clearly....since the public have voted France and Holland as well...is nothing more than an old boys club for people like Tony Blair's mate Peter Mandleson.
That was just an example of an EU Directive that has lost hundreds (if not thousands) of people there jobs, we signed up to the EU....but did you know france and germany tried to block it just like our membership of the common market?.
no, as Kilroy says "we should break that German puppet state called the EU and we should break it...reveal what it really is, and what it is is nothing more than a socialist super state where leeches like france and germany can get rich off smaller European countries"

and bizarrely enough spain---apprently it is now ranked as the eigth largest economy having overtaken canada-- poland is expecting an increase in economic outcome as well and many of the recent joiners- estonia--- talk about small------- it seems as if its only the uk in claims a detrimental relationship

I wouldnt be suprised if most of that per capita income that spain has isnt from benefits claimed off the EU, and almost single-handedly the british people.
Spain is poor, no they are I dont care what statistics these are, and they claim a lot of EU rebates, poland will do too, as will estonia.
check your facts cortez...because then you will find that Britain is the MAJOR contributor to the EU in taxation, we are keeping them afloat, they do not dare take our rebate, because we are the strongest country and the most giving, we welcome these east eu countries, because they can claim some rebates and take some from the scrounging french and spanish

Romania isnt in the EU yet....I should know, I have been there, Ireland and Poland get decent sized subsidies yes, that is true.
Rubbish do we make huge amounts off the EU.....and if we do....we should, we pay the most towards it, those are facts.

and this rebate system is one of the mechanisms
i just wanted to point out that its not the --smaller countries that suffer--- they benefit---as youve said
the uks pop of what---60 million is not small
the source for the bizarre statistic re spain was the ottawa citizen--in early january---- they printed it as a quirky story -------i cant speak for the accuracy of it except anecdotally--- i was coincidentally in barcelona earlier this year ------- it could hardly be described as poor---

And yes, as far as the comparison between spain and Poland goes, yes you are right, Poland is a HELL of a lot poorer than Spain, it's uite similar to Romania actually.
It would, of course, depend on who you speak to, but I think Tony Blair hd a point late last year when being told by the french to give up the re-bate that they should "come clean" about how much they claim off the EU, because it's too much, and the point he made was right, it should be given to countries like Poland.
But Spain really does claim more Subsidies than it needs, this point was raised by Tony as well.....Ireland doesnt claim that much as far as I'm aware

getting over it is a positive statement -- to let bitterness go and look to the future not the past
however....
you also indicated very specifically---prevent germany from controlling--- which sounds like an emotionally neutral statement

The Italians have Michelangelo, the French Molière and the Germans Beethoven.
But, according to an Italian survey, the British - the beer-swilling, tabloid-reading, supposedly sports-crazy British - are more cultured than any of them.
They go to more concerts, films, plays, galleries and libraries than almost anyone in Europe. They even manage to visit more ruins and monuments than the Italians.
But the one area where they lag behind the other major nations of Europe is sport. More French, Italians and Spanish than British go to a course or stadium.
But the British are sportier than the Germans and, proportionately, attendances are above the average for the former European Union of 15 states.
These and other findings are contained in a survey of European cultural consumption commissioned in Italy and due to be published next week. Interviewees in the countries that made up the EU until its enlargement last year were asked if they had been to any one of a series of cultural events in the previous 12 months.
The British scored higher than the French, Germans and Italians in every category except sport. More than 60% of Britons said they were film-goers, compared with only 52% in the land of Renoir, Godard and Truffaut, and 49% of Britons claimed to have been to a library, compared with 27% in the homeland of Goethe.
And almost a third of Britons claimed to have been to a gallery or museum, compared with barely 20% of Italians.
Italy's relatively low "cultural consumption" is a source of growing concern in a country that is renowned for its artistic riches.
Guido Venturini, director general of the Touring Club Italiano, which carried out the survey, told the magazine Il Venerdi: "We are sitting in the most beautiful country in the world, but the Italians appear to be wholly unaware of it."
Part of the problem is that Italy's stagnant economy has prompted the government to cut the budget of its culture ministry as well as to slash allocations to local authorities, which are responsible for many of festivals, libraries, museums and galleries. But it is also true that contemporary Italy's artistic output is modest.
Antonio Paolucci, Florence's top arts official, said: "The next Michelangelo, if there ever is one, will certainly not be born in Italy, but rather China, or the US, or Brazil." Or perhaps even Basingstoke.

We can watch British movies, and there are PLENTY of British ruins and monuments to visit - Stonehenge, Tower of London, Hadrian's Wall, Houses of Parliament, St Paul's Cathedral. The list can go on and on.

I think the choice of phrase was wrong there...of course you have a freedom of speech....unless you go disagreeing and saying silly stuff like the holocaust never happened (which of course it did)...
but in my opinion, a law that states that you CANNOT deny the holocaust happened, and get thrown into jail if you do...is much the same as not having free speech.

my statement made NO referance to the holocaust
i happen to believe that the historical evidence for it--- is overwhelming----

The Austrians are hypocrites.
One minute they publish a Danish cartoon in their newspaper which is offensive to Islam, and then say that it's free speech and complains that the British didn't do the same (even though it's illegal in Britain to offend other religions in that way) but then lock up a British man who denied the Holocaust, even though he made his comments about 7 YEARS ago.
So the Austrians are so concerned about free speech one minute (when it comes to insulting Muslims) but don't give a damn about it when it comes to insulting Jews and Christians.
If Irving made these comments he Britain, he would NOT have been jailed.
