There’s been some changes around Canadian Content and our Board of Directors is short three members. The Board consists of seven members, which means we need to elect three new ones.

The Board will deal with the running of the forum only. Basically the Board is a liaison between the Moderators and the Forum Members. The Board can vote to change or adopt rules and procedures to establish consistency and fairness. The Board also offers Forum Members who have an issue with Moderators or the forum in general a place to voice their concern.

The Board of Directors will be elected by the members of the Canadian Content community. A new election will be held once a year or whenever the Board requires additions.

The Board of Directors will choose a Chair from within their membership. The chair will only vote in case of a tie.

Eligibility

All members of the Canadian Content community who have at least 100 posts and have held membership for at least three months are eligible to both vote and run for the Board of Directors.

Moderators cannot sit on the Board of Directors, and must resign as moderators should they decide to run, but their Moderator positions will be held for them until the end of the election or, should they be elected, until such time as they leave the Board of Directors.

Nominations

Nominations will be held on the open board. If you want to run, or if you wish to nominate somebody else, please do it in the appropriate thread. A roster of all eligible candidates will be updated regularly and posted before the vote begins.

Voting

Because of the problems with internet polling, each voter should send a private message to Board2006. Ballots will be counted by the Canadian Content Administrators. Each eligible member will be allowed one vote. The candidates with the highest number of ballots will sit on the board.

Please put “Ballot” in the subject line of your PM. You must vote for somebody on the official roster or your ballot will not be counted.

Results

The full results of the election will be posted on the forum. All ballots, including spoiled ballots, will be retained for verification of results in case of a dispute.

In case of a tie between candidates, a run off election will be held one week after the results of the first election are posted.

Said1 ... this is the nomination phase ... yes, you can nominate yourself. :) Vote comes later and is done by entire forum.

Sorry Five!! You would have been a great nomination, but we do need Board members that have been around a while and have been active. That stipulation was made by the temporary Board prior to the first election. :)

Meh, I can completely understand the use of such a regulation — I'm sure you see many members come and go, who post once or twice then lose interest and kind of ... "die," in terms of the Forums at least. But you know, once I reach the three-month mark, I'm gonna be pouncing at the next vacancy ... :p
