With the downturn of the economy people are afraid to spend money but they are still spending.
In this economic crises businesses are shutting down and the empty and vacant stores are proving it but at the same time new businesses are being launched in areas where people have money to spend.
The people in the major plants are being laid off by the bean counters so they can improve their bottom line but as they let people go they are creating more competitors as some of those people become entrepreneurs and start companies or home businesses that eventually bring their former companies to their knees.
Big business is going through a metamorphous and when the cocoon finally breaks small independent businesses will flourish.
In the beginning all we had was small independent businesses on Main Street then the big malls came in and then big box stores which a car was essential but with the gas prices and insurance rates and car prices and maintenance owning a car is just not worth it.
People are starting to return to Main Street because people have little to spend but they still want to buy.
