Dr. David Ray Griffin, internationally renowned philosopher and theologian and one of the leading proponents of the 9/11 truth movement, will be speaking on Wednesday May 16th at 7:30 pm in St. Andrew’s-Wesley Church, Nelson at Burrard.
This will be Dr. Griffin’s first speaking engagement on the topic of 9/11 in Canada. He has made appearances in relation to 9/11 on BBC, MSNBC, CBC, CSPAN, local US television and radio stations, and has given talks to many large audiences across the U.S. and Europe.
The purpose of Dr. Griffin’s talk is to introduce his new book, “Debunking 9/11 Debunking: An Answer to Popular Mechanics and Other Defenders of the Official Conspiracy Theory”, due out in May.
The defenders of the official 9/11 conspiracy theory have reacted to a May 2006 Zogby Poll which showed that 42% of Americans reject the official theory, and have responded by producing a variety of publications designed to debunk the evidence of the 9/11 truth movement.
Dr. Griffin, in turn, applies his logical and philosophical rigor to the shifting accounts from the U.S. Dept. of State, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Vanity Fair, the New York Times, Time Magazine, and others, adeptly reversing their claims that the 9/11 truth movement (backed by many scholars and military and intelligence insiders) is irrational and unscientific. The inescapable proof from firemen, police and air traffic controllers is that 9/11 was an inside job. (Sample oral histories from the firemen are cited in Dr. Griffin's article, Explosive Testimony: Revelations about the Twin Towers in the 9/11 Oral Histories.
Dr. Griffin has written four earlier books meticulously analyzing 9/11 evidence: “The New Pearl Harbor” (2004), “The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions” (2005), “Christian Faith and the Truth Behind 9/11” (2006) and, “9/11 and American Empire” (2006, with Peter Dale Scott). He received the Helios Foundation Award in 2006 for the first two of these books.
Author of over 30 books and 180 scholarly articles, Griffin is one of some 60 theologians worldwide included in the prestigious “Handbook of Christian Theologians” and received the Book Prize of the Scientific and Medical Network in 2000 for “Religion and Scientific Naturalism” (2000).
