Nanaimo water isn't too bad though there is a bit of coal in it. I say coal because our electric teakettle that was white inside began to turn black just after we moved to nanaimo. I suspect that the aquifer might run through a coal seam.
We've since installed a ceramic filter and that problem went away.

I have Slater Creek water. Periodically think of tapping into one of my springs, though cuz at runoff the creek water gets a bit chewier. But when clear, it's pretty damned good. No disg usting chemicals like fluorine, chlorine, bromine, etc. in it.

That is a pretty standard complaint with surface water. This is the filter system we added almost two years ago. This is just for drinking water. Works pretty well.

Item #100U
$180.00
Double Housing Under the Sink Water Purifier
Includes: stainless faucet, T valve connection (to shut off valve to cold water supply), two cartridges and all the hardware.
Recommendation for replacement cartridges:
1. Four-stage filter in one: sediment, KDF, GAC and polishing filter, for bacteria, heavy metals, chlorine, bad taste and odours. This filter to be replaced every 9-12 months. --
2. Second filter is a 0.5 micron carbon block for Giardia, crypto, chlorine, bad taste and odours. This filter to be replaced every 4-6 months or as needed. --

The BEST I have ever tasted is out of my grandmother's well, just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario. It was gooooood water.

But...wait...water is supposed to be tasteless? How CAN water be compared to on taste? I mean, I know we can taste the difference...but...what's the deal?

Yeah. Seen those. I like the idea. Thought of building an outhouse-sized shed where the line comes into the house (just off the kitchen) so I can put a large filter unit into it.
Guess Aquasmart doesn't build the big ones. My neighbor (a plumber) put in a system, the 2 canisters are about the size of garbage cans.

The only water that is tasteless is distilled (pure) water.
