I was appalled and quite surprised at Little league Canada's policy on girls softball. Are they implying females are not as worthy as males? Geez this is 2005 for crying in the lake. But it all turned out good in the end.

Young Ladies softball team will make the Nationals after all you have to scroll down a touch to link to the story as they don't allow direct links to news story's, but I will paste the story anyways.

VANCOUVER/CKNW(AM980) - An anonymous donor has come to the aid of BC's Championship Little League Ladies Team, whose travel to the Nationals in Windsor, Ontario wasn't funded because they're not boys.

Elation. That's how Beacon Hill Majors Softball Coach Bill Hawkins summed up the reaction of parents upon hearing the news that about half of their kids' travel expenses will be covered thanks to the effort of a Vancouver p-r firm.

Little League Canada's current policy dictates that based on the ratio of boy to girl teams nationally, only the travel of boys' teams is covered.

After hearing of the team's plight on CKNW Tuesday, staff at The Wilcox Group put their heads together and found a sponsor willing to help out to the tune of $500 dollars per player.

What a complete idiotic policy. Way to go amateur sports, I think not. They are probably doing more damage than good with these kind of policies. Good grief.

To me it seems the classify females as inferior and not as important as males. Which is a horrible policy.

I intend to write a letter to Little league Canada informing them about my disapproval, not to mention discrimminatory practice they have in their so called policy.

You can send your emails here:

I've just sent in mine and just so you all know I will NOT be supporting this organization until policies change.

Same with womens hockey. Drives me nuts ... the games are often not broadcast and when they are, it's at weird off hours. Yep, the old double standard still applies in sports, that's for sure.
